I am real happy to see this group started, I support this 100 percent, but, Who's gonna be the one to educate the law enforcement half of the deal and the Justice system, on state and federal levels?? This needs attention as well. On more than one occasion I have seen and read where a white man who did the same crime or relatively similar, get less time. This should also be a concern in Vt. Unfortunately this education needs to be taught at that level as well. This should not be an issue by people holding these positions . They should hold the same law and justice for all, but we all know this is not true in our state.
When we see a crime against a child we are outraged,as we should be and want the laws tougher on this, but when we see an African American or other ethnic group getting tougher sentences than a white man, people turn a blind eye and say nothing and this is wrong, and its called racial profiling! If we do not take a stand on these issues as well , this cycle will continue and nothing will change, because the people who need educating have not been taught and have been allowed to get away with this abuse.
It's about time VT woke up and took a stand against these injustices as well .
