A giant misalignment in a multiple planet system
To explain their short orbital periods, theory suggests that hot Jupiters form in long orbits and then quiescently migrate through the protoplanetary disc, the flat ring of dust and debris that circles a newly fashioned star and coalesces to form the planets.

Will probably find examples of most formation theories with time. Note that our own system is misaligned with the solar axis, so this one is pretty important.
Our solar system does not however feature large planets close in to the star.
Awaiting the publication of the ephemeres calalogues for the exoplanets found so far. Should look a bit like the 1950s nearby stars catalogues of the past. Handy bit in that case would also be the ephemeres catalogue of the stars as well as the planet orbiting it, which would be a lot more accurate than the 1950s catalogue.
Of interest also is that misaligned planets will minimise the effect of tidal bumping (drift) that occurs with objects in planar orbits. This may be the reason for the continued existence of the close orbiting planet pair.
