You would think that no one should make more than the President of the United States (including factoring in some of the Presidents perks). Some of the salaries and other perks of Corporate America are astounding. How many workers have to work just to pay the corporate's boss salary, etc.? I bet they don't lay any of those employees off. These bosses are laughing all the way to the bank!

They need to take a substantial amount of executive pay from these "Corporate Greedies" as part of a Presidential New Deal and provide Americans with better health care coverage, a fix for Social Security, better police protection, cleaner environment, etc. Don't forget the sports players, actors, and others who make more than some of the smaller corporate executives. They need to penalize sports owners for handing out outrageous salaries to players who can hit or throw a ball. Damn, I can't even afford to go to a ball game anymore.
If Americans just say...well I think I going to stop going to work for a couple of days or even a week, what would Corporate America do. If every hardworking American would do this, we would have a government for the people by the people. But really, I don't think that we have to worry about this because OPEC and Corporate America is doing what the American people can't or will not do!

I'm not defending CEO salaries (or claiming the right to control them, for that matter).

However, why on earth would I think that no one should make more than the president? He is the executive of one particular entity - government - that may have an imporant place, but is certainly not responsible for a lot of productivity and wealth creation. It seems to me that a truly good CEO, who does lead an entity that creates wealth, jobs, goods and services that people can use, might well deserve to make orders of magnitude more than the president.

I find this whole concept to be against the very basis of capitalism. First of all, The President of the United States is in charge of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, not the entire world. This is a small tidbit that we as Americans tend to forget.

Second, Corporations are free entities that can pay it's employees as it see's fit as long as they are working under SEC guidelines if they are a reporting company. As American's we need to get out of this let the government legislate and fix everything mentality. I am tired of people that live in a entitlement mindset. I for one do not want legislation or rules that would say a CEO can only make this much and the rest will go to more government programs. We have that it is called Taxes. Corporations pay taxes and if they have the profit afterwards to pay it's CEOs well then it is up to the BOD to decide that.

I do believe that China and Cuba are still communist. Maybe some people would be better served to live there where everything is provided by the government.

Stop buying gas from Exxon. Why is it anyone's business what a company pays any employees?

The only ones who should be concerned with CEO pay are the stockholders and Board of Directors of the companies in question. Government ( read leftist democrats) have no role in this issue.

I disagree with a fix dollar amount because that would not give CEOs incentives to increase workers pay. Set CEOs pay at 10 times the medium US household income with stock holder appoval, 5 times without. By the way, 10 times the medium US household income is about $500,000.00.

In addition, the president’s salary should be fix at 10 times medium US household income, congress at 3 times medium US household income. A bonus should be given based on a survey question during elections – if 50 percent of the people agree they did a good job, they would get a 50% bonus. Give the power back to the people.
