Hyperbranched polyester modified epoxy resin has excellent performances. Hyperbranched polymer has low viscosity, high functionality, no chain entanglement and good solubility characteristics, provides a new way for epoxy toughening. Modifying the hydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched polyester (AHBP) obtained hyperbranched polyester with carboxyl end group (CHBP), not only has the toughening effect, but also play the role of a curing agent. Using CHBP as flexibilizer and curing agent, study its toughing effect on epoxy/MTHPA (EP/MeTHPA) curing system; CHBP molecular terminal all with carboxyl has the best toughening effect, impact strength achieves 18.5 kJ/m2; when the carboxyl terminal content reaches 40%, the impact strength of the epoxy resin is only 7.8 kJ/m, CHBP has no toughening effect at this time. When CHBP mass fraction is 15%, tensile strength achieves the maximum , 64.86 Mpa; when CHBP mass fraction is 15%, the Tg of the resulting cured epoxy resin is 106 ℃, increased about 6 ℃. Effective application of hyperbranched polyester in UV curable coatings industry.The development of UV-curable coatings is faster and faster, as people's awareness of environmental protection, research of low VOC emissions, high-performance UV coatings is on the agenda, hyperbranched polyester due to its low viscosity, multi-functional groups can be used as toughening or curing agents for coatings industry. Through the terminal-modified of hyperbranched polyesters , introducing appropriate group such as double bond, aliphatic chains, it can be used as UV curable monomer ,and obtain a better film properties, with suitable thermal stability (300 ℃ high temperature resistant) and the glass transition temperature (60 ℃ or so), the system’s toughness and hardness are increased, the tensile strength achieves 10MPa. Effect of novel hyperbranched polyester on PVC mechanical and rheological properties.Hyperbranched polyester can effectively improve the processing fluidity of PVC:
(1) Tensile properties of hyperbranched polyester modified PVC is sensitive to the processing temperature , at 170 ℃ open mill temperatures, hyperbranched polyester/PVC tensile properties reaches maximum; (2) Compared with the traditional processing agent ACR, adding hyperbranched polyester substantially does not affect the mechanical properties, but hyperbranched polyester has large advantage in the processing temperature to reduce plasticizing temperature of PVC; (3) Adding hyperbranched polyesters in PVC also can significantly reduce the viscosity of PVC, and the increasing amount of hyperbranched polyester is good for PVC processing. Hyperbranched polymers can greatly improve shear strength and adhesion of epoxy and polyurethane adhesives. Highly branched polymer PAMAMs (HPBs) becomes a new kind thermosetting adhesive and related adhesion promoter, interfacial adhesion and durability have been significantly increased (100-250%) after modifying, while at lower concentrations it can effect best, it has wide applications and can be used as a binder for variety of plastic and metal.
