Where are all the jobs that we were promised with Apple? Has one person been hired who lives here?

It wasn't anything but local and state officials offering to throw a ton of tax money to Apple in order to get the bragging rights to having been chosen for a data center. Nobody thought to ask how many local people would be getting a job there or even if anyone would be needed at all.

I read on yahoo finance yesterday that only about 50 people worked in the whole place and that the majority of those are not locals because the locals weren't qualified to do the work. It's just another waste of tax dollars.

You know the Federal Gov is giving Apple loads of tax breaks for this waste of money.

Well, its a Data Center. Its not like a warehouse or anything. Its just a group of computers and most likely lots of white lab coats making sure the place is clean.

However, I googled and found a Hickory Record from before it opened.

"About 50 of the new employees will be working directly for Apple in technical and managerial positions. The other 250 will be contract workers, such as security officers and electricians, who will keep the facility running."

300 Jobs but obviously the 50 you would of needed some major creds to work directly with Apple. Security Officers could actually be some sort of outside company so in theory no new people would of been hired. But most of the common type jobs came during the creation and building of the Data Center.

In any event Apple has very strict guidelines about the people who actually work inside it was never was really meant to be a hard labor type job.
