Ben Franklin discovered some very intriguing aspects of electricity. Thomas Edison applied electricity to light bulbs. Mary Shelley wrote about the transformative power of electricity. Electricity as we know is dependent on the subatomic magic of electrons --- charged tiny particles that create energy with attraction.

An electron microscope is a type of microscope that uses an electron beam to illuminate a specimen and produce a magnified image. An electron microscope (EM) has greater resolving power than a light optical microscope and can reveal the structure of smaller objects because electrons have wavelengths about 100,000 times shorter than visible light photons (source: Wikipedia).

The electron microscope uses electrostatic and electromagnetic lenses to control the electron beam and focus it to form an image. These electron optical lenses are analogous to the glass lenses of an light optical microscope (source: Wikipedia).

Electron microscopes are used to investigate the ultrastructure of a wide range of biological and inorganic specimens including microorganisms, cells, large molecules, biopsy samples, metals, and crystals. Industrially, the electron microscope is often used for quality control and failure analysis. Modern electron microscopes produce electron micrographs, using specialised digital cameras or frame grabbers to capture the image (source: Wikipedia).

The magic of an electron microscope is in its ability to harness the variability of electrostatic waves to create illumination diffractions of a very neat geometric-ratio like proportion.

The advent of digital cameras and plasma televisions has brought newfound appreciation for the electron microscope especially in the signal specialized Information Age where machine-respectful films such as "Ghost in the Machine" (1993) and "Pirates of Silicon Valley" (1999) seem to represent edible image capture.

Are they printing movie posters on hemp/recycled paper yet?

God bless!
