But I'm sure Scout's degrees (if the exist at all) are from some online christian papermill. They usually are.
I had no idea this was a field of study. In the department I teach in we are being infiltrated by self-identified "christian victims" who come from private religious schools and are attempting to change the curriculum. They are very frightening, and are already backed by fundamentalist lawyers.

<quoted text> Scout is a follower. The beauty of being a follower is that there is no need to be burdened with independent thinking. The answer, all answers, are with Jesus. Easily understood, direct, and rapid. If you do wrong, you'll be punished; if you do right, you'll be rewarded. A complex world made E Z.
Simple solutions for a simple mind.
Isn't that always the case? It's so much more difficult to actually have to think. Really nicely said. To get an interesting aspect of this google "mortality salience theory." It talks about the willingness of those who are kept fearful to turn over their will to a perceived authority figure, be it religious, or political. The republicans are masters at this.

i've made points, but none of you commies have seen fit to comment, probably because you know they're true and you can't refute them. the main point being you anti religion liberals have taken the bible thumping, god believing obama into your bosoms. if McCain's religion was talked about as much as obamaramas, you'd be calling him a bible thumping, right wing christian fanatic and you know it.
when it's your chosen one, all of a sudden, religion doesn't matter.
To a certain point, I agree with you - except where you say that since it's "our chosen one it doesn't matter" - it matters that he isn't pandering to those who would force us to live by their beliefs - McCain is.

He actively solicited endorsements from just about every crackpot religious idiot out there, including John Hagee and one other asshat whose name escapes me at the moment.

He had to reluctantly disavow Hagee's long-sought endorsement after footage was revealed of him preaching that Hitler was heaven-sent as a hunter of Jews, and that Katrina was God's punishment for New Orleans being a "sinful" city.

He sought (but hasn't yet receieved) James Dobson's (Focus on the Family, yet another crackpot religious group).

Republicans as a whole are seeking affliations with the worst of these right-wing morons - many GOP lawmakers around the country are introducing bills to force schools to teach creationism (aka Intelligent Design) in our public schools - the state house in LA just recently passed a bill to do just that. We also had a bill being considered here in FL that would have had the same effect (also introduced by the GOP)- thankfully, the session closed before there was a vote on it.

Now there some to be some conflict in your logic.

on one post you call Deist a commie and then in the next post you turn around and say all christians should be locked up.

Don't get me wrong I think religion is the root of all that's evil but you don't seem to know where each of your feet are standing.

Btw don't get huffy when someone doesn't choose to "debate" you. They are ignoring you. There's a difference.

You are entirely right about the "ignoring" part, and I see it's the kind of diploma that you print out at home, right? I looked up the curriculum at one of the private religious colleges near her (I had a student transfer) and the course were entitled "Psychology and Religion", "Culture and Religion" "Algebra and Religion" etc.(the Algebra one was a slight exaggeration, but you get the idea.

still don't see how this affects me. i could care less if they teach intelligent design in school. we all grow up and make our own mind up about the subject. i did.
if you want to bring up"crackpot religious leaders" please include the rev. wright, obamas' main man. he's dangerous, right wing zealots are meaningless.

So religion only matters to YOU when it's not your "chosen one" - not the other way around.

Wright's comments were taken out of context, and then he went nuts when the media came crashing in - I've seen nothing of that sort from Obama, so I don't see that it had any effect on him.

The church's preaching aside, Obama is all about freedom of religion, not the forcing of religion the right-wing is ALL about. I don't see Obama talking about banning gay marriage, teaching idiocy like ID (it DOES matter, whether you think so or not), and making this country a "Christian" nation governed by "Christian" (nee FASCIST) law.

McCain's SOUGHT after endorsers DO. I will NEVER vote Republican until they kick these bigoted fvcktards out of the party, and get them back under the rock they came from.

you are truly delusional, wrights comments were no taken out of context. if you want to be an apologist for an anti white, anti america "reverand" have at it. i, however am smarter than that. there are none so blind as those who will not see.
your claim the religious right is trying to force there religion on anyone is the usual cannard trotted out by the usual, anti religion demo-nazis. the higher echelon, upper level types in charge have nothing but disdain for religion[except islam] and christians in particular. i only point out the hypocrisy of the demo-nazis who are now so enamored of a religious christian.
it matters not one whit what far right wing religious people want, they are powerless and they don't advocate violence to obtain their goals, unlike their muslim counterparts.
party of diversity? what a joke.
