Yeah but my government's giving my wife and I a $1200 rebate in a few weeks from now. I love my government. |

Before we get all orgiastic about this consider the incredible number of flights in the U. S. alone both commercial and private and then consider the people that might be running that also ran ENRON, the SUB-PRIME mortgage companies not to mention those others of less than sterling character who would love to bid on this function. Then put yourself in the pilot's seat and consider than a simple screw-up would affect you first. Let's not rush into this blindly.

With public traffic control, when enough people die we can throw endless sums of public money, research and hearings to make the situation better, albeit only slightly most often.
With private firms, when enough people die the company folds and opens under another name in a Carribean nation. Mmmmmmmm? Actually one is about as good as another. You really gotta kill yourself to get anything substantial accomplished |

The US had the best air traffic control system!! The current administration has screwed air traffic over so bad that controllers want out and the people are asking for privitization. Just another ploy to make some cronies rich while John Q. Public gets raked over. Congress has the chance to fix things right now, lets hope they do the right thing and pass the FAA reauthorization.

The Private Sector on a competitive level providing a service that is constantly being reviewed by the competition with an eye to provide a better service, is going to provide a far better service to our Air Traffic Control System. The Private Sector runs with far greater flexibility in keeping up with advancements in technology, accountability on its performance and on individual performance. When, has a Government employee been held accountable for poor performance? A Government Entity is usually Bloated with the Losers of this World who can't get and hold an honest job. Yes, there are good people in Government but, there is a great many Losers of the numbers that would have long ago been weeded out of the Private Sector. If you want an Expensive Wallowing Bloated Incompetent Entity running a Vital Service.....Go with Government!

The privatization of Flight Service Stations has been hugely problematic. Privatizing ATC will be a disaster. The government CAN do some things right; they just meed the right people in place. |
|
In the first place...Rarely does the Government have enough of the Right people. Mostly, they have too much of the Wrong people. That's the Problem! The Flight Service Stations have not Privatized. A Contract was let to Lockheed Martin to modernized the FSS. This includes the Automated Flight Service Stations as well. Yes, there have been a few problems for such a large undertaking and makeover but, it is successfully working and improving. Naturally, you have strong Union complaints but, they dislike it because the AFSS replace a number of the Union dues paying membership's jobs. The Union is basically a hustle power play to live off the earnings of the members in the form of dues. A Great savings of your Tax dollars have resulted by implementing these changes. Government is necessary in certain areas like enforcement of the Rule of Law, Defense, etc. But, only the amount of Government that is necessary and no MORE! Yes, it would be very Advantages to Privatize completely the FSS and ATC! |

Privatized ATC will cost more than your aircraft, and frankly I like having my fuel taxes pay for the services and not inventing whole new quarries to dig up square wheels.
I truly appreciate the guys who thread you through a crowded Class B in the middle of the day without asking for a credit card. When ADS-B becomes the law of the land, ATC's infrastructure SHOULD get lighter but it won't: VORs will be phased out, LORAN will make a comeback as backup to GPS, but the entire system will be geared to helping the airlines deal with $6/gallon jet-A, not to GA. And the price of a new privatized infrastructure will soar. Maybe EADS will get that contract... |
LOL.......Very Funny! |
|
Apparently you haven't seen the 'contractors' in action from the user side... |
|
If the Government hires BAD contractors, that's the Government's fault. There are many examples of Government being bought by various criminal contractors to have contracts let to them and proceed to give high price service with poor quality. This is a criminal conspiracy between Government and contractor Ripping Off the Taxpayer. Example: New Orleans! |
