They should chip them like they do dogs and cats, then whenever they go to school or the hospital, they can be scanned. After they reach a certain age, it can be deactivated. If it saved one, it would be worth it.

This is nothing but a scam. It costs twice as much as any other tracking device PLUS the monthly service fee. And do you really think a kidnapper won't throw it out the window?

Shame on Fox 2 for this free advertisement they provided to this con man.

Dear Problem solver,
You are obviously a plant from the company that is trying to sell these devices. Do you honestly think they kidnapper will not look for and remove the device immediately? The device is HUGE. Especially when trying to hide it on a child. Any kidnapper would be able to spot it a mile away unless you're going to shove it your kids butt.

A smart kidnapper would place the device in a vehicle going the opposite direction while your dumb azz chases the device in the wrong direction.

This is a pathetic waste of money and false sense of security.

This seems like a great service only that it is very expensive. nearly all of the features of this service are available from your cellular phone provider. Sprint offers Spring Family Locator for $5 per month for up to 4 phones (http://sfl.sprint.com ) and Verizon offers Family Locator for $9.99 per line (http://products.vzw.com/index.aspx... ).

A much better value and should have been included in the story

I agree with (Guy in Ferg) A cell phone does just the same...as the tracking device..I am very interested...If it would save my childs life..thats all that matters..but my question also is..what if the child or (suspect)throws the device out?

This seems to be another excuse of relying too much on technology to save children or what I'd call, "overusing technology"... I don't think this device could p save an abducted child, neither prevent kidnappings. An abductor could take the device and destroy it (along with a cell phone if the child had access to one), and we would still have missing children.

We can't modify life with technology... life >/ technology

This device looks amazing! I can't wait to check it out. The technology has existed for a while but never this small and never with that SOS feature.
Putting a "chip" in your childs skin would allow the authorities to identify your childs body after they've been killed. That was a retarded comment by Citizen 6510.
Citizen 6510, I sure pray that you don't have children! Idiot!
Judging from the comments left before mine there are a few prospective kidnappers that are upset about the new weapons to combat their future actions. I'll put one on my kid. I pay more than that in car insurance every month! My kids are worth more to me than any posession.
Oh, and I suppose that if your kids are abducted, the abductor won't toss the pager in a sewer? I believe you must be the retarded one if you want to pin your hopes on something that can get lost, stolen, or broken. I hope your kids have someone else to look after them, so at least they have a bit of a chance. Idiot! Should change your name to Problem Maker

What a scam? Not really, but looking at these comments makes me wonder why anyone would want to choose this device than the one that is advertised by Guard-A-Kid. They have a smaller device called Amber Alert that costs $199.00 and has a monthly fee of $19.95 per month. I do like the concept of the cell phones and their charges of tracking one's loved ones, but how many small children have cell phones on them, or a panic device that one could activate? Just my thoughts on the matter.

Anything that will protect my children from people like you who want to take them will work for me. I'm a school teacher. I'm not with my children all day. You and out of work and broke. The children that you have belong to others. Give the children back and turn yourself in already! The next kid you kidnap will have technology on them like this device and you'll be BUSTED!!!! Oh....I can't wait!!!! Please get busted soon you loser.
You're a school teacher? No wonder the youth of today is in the shape it is in. You should be ashamed of yourself, and the parents should demand your resignation. You must be doing the principal favors to keep your job. Child Welfare should know about you and put your children where they may have a fighting chance. You WILL be caught, it's just a matter of time. Better hide!

The GPS technology in your phone doesn't even come close to comparing to these devices. Much, much more accurate, much faster startup, better signal strength, etc. There's no silver bullet to keep our kids safe, but being a parent that's endured my child's abduction, I'll take any tools I can get.

While still a little pricey, the cost will do nothing but come down. When fully operational these devices communicate with the cell network and the tracking servers every 15 seconds. That's where a lot of the monthly service fees come in.

There's no substitute for parental supervision, but when you can't be there at least you can know where 'there' is...

My family though that this was a great news piece. I think I can track my farm equipment with these! Those of you that are complaining about price should look at your car insurance bill. That's for a car!! A depreciating asset! Kids and spouses are not replaceable. I hope and pray that nobody else has to go through what those family's go though who have to identify their child's body or never see them again. We live in a sick sick world where people take people. I see strange cars near our farm all the time. I trust nobody!! Nobody!!! You'll wish you purchased this device or one from Best Buy etc if your child goes missing. Strangers are always looking for new ways to take your kids. You should find new ways to help combat that problem. It's your fault and your fault only for the lack of child safey measures taken.
Good job Karl and Craig!
Kidnappers now days run the risk of who they kidnapp, Some kids may be returned right away after spending a few minutes with them..

Why would you ever want to guess where a stranger is with your kid and speculate on just how long they'll have your child? A kidnapper won't frisk the child before getting him or her into the car. That takes time to do and someone could spot you. If this device doesn't make it all the way to the kidnappers intended destination without being thrown out the window, then at the very least we'll have highway and intersection cameras to match against exact time stamps on the system as to when that vehicle crossed into it's line of sight. Same goes for gas stations and large parking lots. All we want it to see the car. Shawn Hornbecks case was cracked because Mitchell Holt saw the car.

In itself it is not a lifesaving too, but it is a very valuable tool in the daily fight to save a child. Give them a chance to live without fear.

I meant to say that this device by itself is not a life saving tool. Typing too fast.
