Should evolution be taught in high school?

Feb 24, 2008 Full story: www.scientificblogging.com 173,634

Microbiologist Carl Woese is well known as an iconoclast. At 79 years of age, Woese is still shaking things up. Most recently, he stated in an interview with Wired that...

"My feeling is that evolution shouldn't be taught at the lower grades. You don't teach quantum mechanics in the grade schools. One has to be quite educated to work with these concepts; what they pass on as evolution in high schools is nothing but repetitious tripe that teachers don't understand." Full Story

No, actually when we demonstrate our claims you only dismiss it by claiming it's all part of the evil worldwide atheist Darwinist evolutionist Jewish conspiracy. But you never prove such.

Not just evolutionary biology, ALL science.

According to you.

So again, since you feel this is the case, why continue to ask for evidence everyone knows you don't give a sh t about? After all, it's all just part of the evil worldwide atheist Darwinist evolutionist Liberal socialist Communist Nazi gayhomo anti-Christian God-hating, Satan-worshipping, baby-eating Jewish Illuminati conspiracy. Just like Jimbo says it is.

Just ignore the bit about Jimbo disappearing from here for 6 months due to him (quite seriously) not playing with a full sack.

No, actually you don't. Which is why you constantly get it wrong.

You need to study your own religion better before you spout off the worthless BS that characterizes all of your meaningless posts. Gradualism supposedly occurs one small step at a time. Toy haven't explained how an inserted useless segment of DNA would be preferentially incorporated into the species over non-infected members of the species.
What's preference got to do with it? You DO know that there are MILLIONS of species, right? Hence why marsupials were also successful as well as placental mammals.

Every time you pull out the "incredulity" card you are admitting that you have no scientifically logical answers and simply expect skeptics to accept your cherished religion on faith.
No, every time I mention that word it's because you're betraying your lack of education of the subject, and you simply refuse to accept what is presented, but WITHOUT presenting a coherent rational rebuttal.

In other words you're showing everyone that you're a big fat juicy dishonest lying hypocrite fer Jeezus.

HTS, since the vast majority of the genome is still shown to be noncoding the addition of an ERV there should not matter.
When your side can prove that the ENTIRE genome is coding, which no one has come close to yet, then you might have a legitimate claim that ERV's cannot attach randomly.
Complete BS. Non-coding does not mean "non-functional". Your entire junk DNA paradigm has crashed.

The incredulity card is a debunked scientific fallacy, and your perputual recycled use of it only underscores your base ignorance.

Dude, regardless of how much you imagine that evolutionary theory is "peer-reviewed", you have yet to produce a single paper that scientifically demonstrates that any proposed mechanism of evolution is possible. Peer-reviewed bedtime stores are not science.
If you are seriously interested in the level of "peer review" that exists in the evo world, consider the history of the infamous Ernst Haeckle and his drawings that have been propagated in biology textbooks for over a century after they were proven fraudulent. You call that "peer review"? What a joke.....

You have been zealously evo-babbling on this forum for months, and have yet to "demonstrate" anything. Your incessant parroting of bedtime stories isn't fooling anyone.

Dude, you consistely dodge all legitimate concerns that are posed. For natural selection to preserve an ERV insertion, that organism that has been so endowed has to be functionally superior to all other non-infected members of the species. How does a worthless segment of inserted DNA impart a survival advantage. Any random manipulation of genetic code would result in an inferior outcome... at least such would be predicted by evolution. Why are you bringing up marsupials vs placental mammals?

We have gone over how this is just a paranoid fantasy of yours.
If the various creation "scientists" could show that there has been prejudice against them they could openly publish one of their wrongfully rejected works along with the reasons for rejection. They have never done so. All they have is empty claims of prejudice.
All creationists should remember this mantra:
Without evidence you lose.
For starters, consider the fraudulent drawings that have been propagated in high school and university biology textbooks for over a century. I'm speaking of the infamous Ernst Haeckle. You're going to sit there and tell me that this is objective "peer review"?

SZ: I hate to be the one to break this to you, but you have no scientific evidence to back up molecules-to-man evolution. You have bedtime stories and propaganda... nothing more. Every one of your ridiculous pieces of "evidence" can be and has been logically refuted by intelligent, highly credentialed scientists. What you have are philosophical opinions. You have no science whatsoever.

Want to back up this statement - specifically where evolution requires this ?

Simple question

Simple answer would be appropriate (I.e answer the question, DON'T just rant and don't say stuff you can't support)

And of course you have zero evidence for your skygod floaty thingy. All you have are philosophical opinions, and ALL of your evidence can be and HAS been logically refuted by Intelligent highly credentialed scientists.

You still haven't explained how EVERY scientific organization on EARTH supports evolution and Darwin.
