The growth of mathematics, science, medicine and technology has been gradual and every nation and civilization has contributed towards it.
MUQ, for some new growth in science and medicine, and perhaps yuour own viewpoint too, check out the following.

Just read the first one if its too much. Brought in by Noodly James on another forum, but you just have to read it. If you can wade through piles of Yahya, Addled, and 911 conspiracy sites, you can manage some of this.

Then tell us what you think.

For the present all I can conceive is that evolution be taught in H.S. with a uniform curriculum and national testing.

Why should we belittle the efforts of Muslim Scientists and Mathematicians?
The original works of Muslims are still available in libraries around the world and every one can see what they contain.
For many centuries , Muslims were the leading Scientists, Physicians Astronomers and Mathematicians in the world.
I would encourage you to read 'The Rise of Early Modern Science' by Toby Huff. it points out how the rise of doctrinaire Islam stopped the scientific developments in the Islamic world. In particular, AlGhazali was instrumental in changing the Moslem world's philosophy to the place that real scientific innovation became more and more difficult. If you want to understand why the Moslem world is behind in science today, you should look directly at Al-Ghazali.

Threads (also called "topics") are never down. Here's a link to all of the threads that make up the Evolution Debate Forum:

Note that threads might fall off the first screen (if nobody replies to them in a month or so), but they are always still listed.
You're wrong. It was visited frequently by others, and it is no longer listed anywhere. Tricky doings are afoot. There's a wascally wabbit undermining my twail.

"Why aren't there more people on Topix at 3:30 a.m.?" I've never seen this happen before. It didn't just slide down the list, to be brought back with a post, like all the others do.All first 148 posts just started dropping off screen, so I saved what I could. Then checked the board and it had gone from top o' the list to vanished. Then a couple days later I commented,"Why would anybody want to hack me?" Within a couple of hours I had 12 viruses,*Trojan, backdoor, pinch, etc., just to prove they could I guess. There's too much sneaky stuff going on here!

Yeah. It's gone. Removed by the mods, no doubt.

I rather doubt there's a connection. And if you actually had 12 viruses/worms/etc, you need to do something about your anti-virus software.

That's not much better than quoting the 1400 year old

You should probably do your homework on Mr. Oktar (aka Harun Yahya) before using his material. He is a cult leader that recylces American creationist screeds.

I am interested in the subject of evolution and related discussion. When going off topic into your cyber sex forays I have not minded in the least, and funny comments welcome too. I am unlikely to get involved in your side chats though, cos its not why I am here.
However, you appeared to make comments about me being egotistical and your poodle followed up with "is he annoyingly verbose or merely annoying?".
I merely responded in kind. Its feeble to dish it out and then when its thrown back, make accusations of "lack of sense of humour".
As for the doubly disingenuous whining, after attacking me unprovoked, about me being "mean to you" or "hating women"? Well I don't think much of people who play these puerile games of provoking and then playing the victim when they receive a response in kind. I will leave it to you to estimate whether that is a primarily feminine tactic or a Palestinian one.
Have I said enough now?
So you hate females and Palestinians, huh? You're a gay Jew now? That's fine, but why so much vile name-calling? Still upset about that circumcision? All only to please that purple elephant? I guess the rabbi took too much off, huh?

Yes, you are right.

I should be laughing uproariously when you say:

"So you hate females and Palestinians, huh? You're a gay Jew now?"

That was really funny.

But the one that should bring the house down is:

"Still upset about that circumcision?... I guess the rabbi took too much off, huh?"

My god, I was bent over double laughing at that one.

You're trying to pick a fight with the wrong person. Of course, why would I suggest it be discontinued? Although I did skip dissection day every chance I got, yech!

Don't get mad at me...I really wanted to know. Thanks for answering.
Never was terribly comfortable with mass-production of small corpses and live creatures for empty-headed and hormonally challenged HS students to mutilate. Now there are some good "virtual" dissection labs for the rank-and-file kid.

One "lab" I've done several times with kids is to use play-dough to sculpt a virtual viscera; then a written exam on what all those parts do when they aren't made of play-dough, but integral parts of living things. Those lessons seemed to get the job done.

My neighbor butchered a yearling deer that had died of asphalt poisoning; we did a class using its innards, but the kids were too into expressing their feelings of "EEEEwwwww-Grrrooooossss " and also feelings of sorrow for the animal. Not much biology was accomplished I'm afraid.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Pisces

You have a one track mind today, dear Pisces, and it's running along very ambitious lines, absolutely determined to achieve something you've been attempting for ages. Can you be so committed that you're prepared to let everything else go by the wayside for the time being? That's great, but don't become obsessive about it.
