Ban 'Second Life' in schools, libraries?
Some politicos in the U.S. Congress may be embracing Second Life . But Illinois Republican Mark Kirk says it's a danger zone for children and must be blocked, by law, on school and library computers.

Well what do ya know.... Cash actually posted somethin worth commenting on. Yes DEFINATELY this "Second Life" is incredibly disillusioning, especially to minors. It's elements like this that disillusion younger generations that everything in life is "easy" and that "hard work" and "school and college" is not necessary to make a difference in one's life. Next thing we know, there will be a rash of "Second Life" crimes being commited; kids hacking into it, and who knows what esle..... Rape, sexual preditors, pediphiles all being portrayed on this whimsical fantasy land. There should be limits to games, especially this one!

1 I have talked with many children, and they are mystified as to what the 'danger' from pedosexuals are, because they are doing most of the sexual things in question with other children and have reasoned out that since the laws automatically assume that they are being 'forced' into sexual relationships with adults....... they have all the power in said relationships, because ONE accusation, true or not, will ruin a person. That's one of the reasons why I am for REPEALING the 'child sexual abuse' and statutory rape laws, but that is on another subject. Frankly, the reason the people don't want 'rape, sexual predators and pedosexuals' to be portrayed in real life is simple: people will realize that rape was created by nature as a way for males to propogate their seed when a woman is not willing, and they will realize that pedosexuals are not the 'monsters' that society is trying to make them out to be. Oh, and to Monorprise: neither came first because NEITHER exists, except in the deluded minds of the religious idiots out there. |

1 I believe that the right to speak in inseparable from the responsible to speak with care. Rape and other fantastic forays into abusive behavior are off limits. BTW, a poster named Leria has defended rape. Are there any prosecutors here? |

I would like to see that politicion get that law through the house.Like they say if you want to kill the big fish kill the small ones first.
The question I would like to ask Aint that the same thing that these Bible freeks preach and teach. Do you rearlize how many fools in the world that believe they have a seccond life in another world ,Mr Mark Kirk ,You have jumped in quick sand. |

oh, i think it should be banned.
There are some MESSED UP stuff on SL, but only if you age-verify your account. It has it's postives more than its negatives though, and I believe overall it is a good thing. a few bad apples spoil the whole bushel. |

Having read the article, and seeing that this is a virtual reality game, my question is, why isn't this being blocked at the school firewall to begin with?
If the kids are at school, they don't have any business playing a reality game on the computer! The poster at the link is right, many children do lie about their age to get into adult areas they don't belong. It does concern me that a poster here is defending rape. |

1 want to hang Leira go - what he says is right on -that doesn't mean that he has broken any of the laws he doesn't agree with. Religions nuts seem to think God made a horrible human body and an evil thing called sex so we shouldn't look at them or discuss them. |

2nd life is for people who don't have a first life. I tried it. Waste of time. I like my one and only life. Granted there are days when it can get to me. But overall I am my avatar in the real world.
By the way, not one of us chose the life or the body we were born with. Your viewpoints about the not recognizing evil one are dangerous. And just so you know...this forum was started by one of the best hackers that ever lived. You can be found. |

I know quite a few people that are on Second Life. They are all adults and mostly men. When they start talking about their homes, businesses, stuff they bought, etc.(in their "reality" second life) it always seems to get back to all the sex, sex rooms, sex toys, etc. They talked me into going on and I was not impressed! I am by no means a prude... but I soon realized that this was really nothing more than an animated sex chat room. I can see where folks with no social life would feel like they actually had one...but not for me. I'd rather sit outside doing nothing than spending my time watching cartoons have sex every time you turn a corner!
Personally, I think the site should be banned from being free. If someone really wants to spend their time like that, then let them pay to be a member...that way, it would be less likely for kids to go on without a credit card. |
