Tens of millions in tax payer funds spent to finance Hoku (via Act 221).

In exchange, 28 employees (maybe even some more!)

Plus now a fire sale.

For tens of millions, the state gets a few dozen jobs for less than a decade and an impending collapse. Another Act 221 Winnah!

Has the high tech tax credit really stimulated this kind of activity here? Maybe this should be repealed to help reduce the State deficit. Our State should concentrate on tourism which is our backbone.

If there are all these GREEN JOBS and all this big PUSH to switch to Solar and Wind- WHY is this company going under?

WHY did Pickens cancel his Mega Windfarm project in Texas?

Sounds like the GREEN JOBS and SWITCH to alternatives is just another SMOKE and MIRRORS deal.

SOMETHING is REALLY WRONG with this picture!

This company went public at $6 a share. The investors need this company to survive.

The sovereignty freaks want all high tech business out of the state. Their goal is to end democracy and free markets.

I'll bet a lot of them were local people, backing the "home team." Kinda like backing UH football... possibly with Sugar Bowl results.

Now, the voters will never bother to research who sponsored and supported the legislation.
So much easier to blame Lingle, Bush and Palin.

HOKU needs to become another Akaka Scam --like Sandwich Isles Communications

SIC is getting $500 million to to wire 5400 Hawaiian Homeland lots at $93,000 per lot--the construction cost of a small house--just for high speed internet and phone service.

If Hoku could get in on this SCAM- they could get maybe $500 million to install solar panels on 5400 Hawaiian Homes around the state.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!

Yeah, it's called lobbying and collusion by the energy companies to retain their profits. Hoku was NEVER a viable business and their size is so insignificant that it doesn't matter.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Libra

Someone is shooting from the hip today, making them irascible and all too liable to fly off the handle. Be very wary about provoking them into further outbursts, particularly where the vexed topics of money and sex are concerned. If you're trying to sort out a financial problem you will also be prone to losing your rag and banging your fist on the table. But will that help?
