I think you need to stay in school until you can write a proper sentence.

It is true though. We could be spending much more time bettering ourselves in things we're actually interested in. In my opinion classes like geometry are a waste of time. Especially if you're not even into math, why not better yourself by spending time learning to write a novel, etc. We should be able to choose the subjects we're interested in. Society, especially in the U.S. places such strict importance on the time spent in school and we wonder why teenagers are so stressed. Sure you can blame it on hormones but we deal with much more than most adults. Now of course I'm not talking about a surgeon or anything like that but most adults just have to focus on their job, and family, that's it. We have to spend time doing well in school, volunteering, doing sports, perfecting SAT scores, worrying about college, while trying to actually live life. Something has gone terribly wrong in society. Don't even get me started on the adults who feel there should be no more summer. Maybe we should make them go back to school since they obviously feel they missed out on important school work while they were enjoying their summer as a child.

I sure hope you remember these words you have spoken out of sheer youth, in about 10 years when you're wishing you could be back in HS.

I know, Ive been wondering that too and Im not even in school anymore (but I did graduate so no Im not a dropout:P). I mean 7 hours a day (and not counting the amount of time it takes to get ready and how long it can take to get home if you ride tne bus), 5 days a week, and has to be just over 9 months a year. Doesnt sound ridiculous to anyone, like I can understand needing school but not school being your life, I mean jeez no wonder I was going through all that funk I went through my senior year. Oh and guess what? At least half the crap you learn in school youre not going to use ever again, aint that lovely :P maybe its just a big money ploy, idk seems that the world is run by that now. And I agred with the person that said that any teachers who say that summer vacation should be taken away too should have to go to school 7 hours a day 5 days a week over the summer, lets see how long it will take to change their minds lol

It isn't school, it's the teachers. I get it, some teacher's are super cool and love the kids, but we have to face it. Some just act like it's a dead-end job and the students are a herd of cows. They pile work after work after work then wonder why we didn't finish our 5,000 word essay plus the stack of homework plus our other school work in one day. I seriously have a teacher like that.

You have this question backwards! It should be why isn't school longer!
