Congratulations to Danielle Lawrie on being named college softball Player Of The Year for 2009. Living in Florida I wanted our girl the brilliant senior pitcher Stacey Nelson wo win the award. She was due because she has had an unbelievable season and could have won Player Of The Year last year. But after looking over the enire awesome body of work for Lawrie as a great pitcher, the top workhorse pitcher in college softball, a very good hitter with alot of power combined with Danielle's brilliant pitching and hitting performances in the regionals and super regionals is what won her POY and what makes her the MVP of college softball 2009. And she still has her senior season to play next year.

I am hoping for a Washington/Florida college World Series final because a showdown between Lawrie and Nelson the 2 best pitchers in America in a best of 3 World Series would be sensational!

On a side note it's peculiar that Nelson almost won college POY when she didn't even win the SEC POY. Nelson was naturally SEC Pitcher Of The Year but she should have been player of the year too with her incredible season and ERA and leading Florida to the #1 ranking.

P.S.- I hope with all the travelling the Wahington Huskies have done recently that they can keep their full energy and avoid fatigue in the college World Series. I would understand it if the players were a bit tired at this point in the season.

Well in addition to being 2009 college softball Player Of The Year Danielle Lawrie has added 2009 World Series MVP and a national championship to that. What an amazing season it was for Danielle! In fact it's the greatest year any individual player has ever had in this history of college softball because no player had even been Player Of The Year, World Series MVP and win a national championship in the same year before. Well done to Danielle on a truly great season and to the Washington Huskies on winning the college softball national championship for the first time. They earned it.
