China lied about a more open press coverage,China lied about religious freedom,China lied about allowing protests(and they sent 2 old women in their 70's into a labor camp for asking for a permit to protest)and no protests have been allowed to take place, for one sorry excuse why after another,China lied about who sang the China song,China lied about the 56 ethnic children who carried the communist flag(they were all Han chinese),they lie about their military actions in Dafar, and several other places where they are stripping all the natural resources from. The Communist country involved in hosting the Olympics has no Chi,no soul so all they do is a lie and they want the world to be afraid of them or be owned by them, that way we will believe their lies as TRUTH. The goverment of china demands to win,and if a athlete doesn't win gold the athletes are shamed andtreated worse then lepers, the CCP would no problems faking HE's passport, they fake everything else.

That's not quite accurate, the olympics have always been political, why is everyone surprised? But they can't be accused of rigging everything, they would honestly have to do something far worse I think to warrent a dishonorable lable.

I think China will end up getting embarrassed on this one.

Then, CCP will probably do what they always do----stir up the rabid, irrational Chinese nationalism.

CCP will also likely lash out with allegations against other countries, etc

IOC: Despite questions, no proof China cheated By NANCY ARMOUR, AP National Writer

Despite persistent questions about the ages of several members of the Chinese women's gymnastics team that won the gold medal, the International Olympic Committee said Friday there is still no proof anyone cheated and believes the controversy will be "put to rest."

The IOC asked the International Gymnastics Federation to investigate "what have been a number of questions and apparent discrepancies," spokeswoman Giselle Davies said. But all of the information the Chinese gymnastics federation has presented so far supports its insistence that its athletes were old enough to compete.

"We believe the matter will be put to rest and there's no question ... on the eligibility," Davies said. "The information we have received seems satisfactory in terms of the correct documentation including birth certificates."

If the federation had found evidence that the gymnasts were underage, it could have affected four of China's medals. In addition to the team gold and He Kexin's gold on bars, Yang Yilin won bronze medals in the all-around and uneven bars.

Chinese coach Lu Shanzhen told The Associated Press they gave the FIG new documents on Thursday to try to remove any doubts about He's age, including an old passport, residency card and her current ID card.

Lu said all the documents were issued by various departments of the Chinese government, and that he had nothing more to put forth as evidence.

"If these valid documents are not enough to clarify this problem, then what will you believe?" an indignant Lu said.

The FIG has said repeatedly that a passport is the "accepted proof of a gymnast's eligibility," and that China's gymnasts have presented ones that show they are age eligible. The IOC also checked the girls' passports and deemed them valid before the games began.

Andre Gueisbuhler, secretary general of the FIG, said the federation would release a statement later Friday.

"For the time being, there is nothing I can add," Gueisbuhler said.

A gymnast must be 16 in an Olympic year to compete at the games. But questions about the ages of at least three of the athletes have persisted. Online records and media reports suggest three Chinese gymnasts He, Yang and Jiang Yuyuan might be as young as 14.

The IOC said previously that it had verified the passports of all athletes competing at the games.

"We are not in a position to say 'It's good, it's not good.' It's a government document," FIG president Bruno Grandi said earlier this week in an interview with the AP.

I'm sure you all saw the photo of how the coach hugged Deng Linlin (appears to be the youngest gymnast) after she successfully completed her routine. Would a male coach hug a 16-year old girl that way? Common sense should tell... Oh, perhaps this is the Chinese way.

Hey bro, I think you missed a big point. Carl Lewis' doping shit was an individual act while underage lying was a government backed act (passports, official birth certificates, etc.). Can't you even tell the difference...?

So arrest anyone who disagrees. Prison for beliefs? Yup, that's the totalitarian way. China cannot remain totalitarian AND modern forever.
Witness this news report. Shame.
A number of sources including the Huffington Post are reporting on 79-year-old Wu Dianyuan and her 77-year-old neighbor, Wang Xiuying. The two elderly Chinese women who applied to hold a protest during the Olympics. On Sunday they were order "to serve a year long term of reeducation through labor," according to the Huffington Post.

Their crime? The two women have been protesting their relocation within Beijing. Their homes were taken in 2001 to make room for Olympic venues. They've since staged public protests 16 times in places like Tiananmen Square.

They also applied for a permit to hold a protest in one of the three parks set aside for that purpose during the Olympics. About those park...

According to the Huffington Post, Beijing announced last month that it would allow protests in three parks far from the Olympic venues during the games but they had to be approved in advance. Of the some 77 applications lodged so far, none have been approved, and rights groups have called the zones a charade.

At last report the two women were under surveillance but hadn"t yet been ordered to report to the labor camp.

Oh boy, more half truth from the western media. They certainly would not mention that the two lovely ladies there went to the government compound known as "ZhongNanHai", Chinese equivalent of the White House, and set off bunch of fireworks there. Try that on the White House lawn, you'll be arrested too.

And that's NO LIE!

What a pathetic bunch of backward losers. When the true history of the years of the Communist dictatorship are written, they will cause the Chinese people more grief and shame than any other period of their history.

Hug is one thing, but hug with her arms and legs wrapped around coach's neck and waist is NOT what 16-year old girl (or 40-year+ coach) would NORMALLY do.

Best for CCP to come out immediately and admit their clumsy corruption with this gymnast thing.

The longer it goes and the more they do the deny/lie dance the worse it will get.

Very clumsy mistake!

Why did they wait until now to do this? People were crying out from here to doomsday over this before the Olympics started. Now, even if they strip the Chinese of their medals, you can't go back and give the rightful winners their moment at the games. Getting a gold medal in the mail just isn't the same.
