I haven't watched a gymnastic event in over ten years but I would really like to know why they should have this age limit in the first place? if these events are considered important enough to include why put a minimum age limit. Shouldn't we want the best regardless of age? If not, what is so special about 16, why not reserve the events for 21 and up?
