As much as I'm sure he'd like to do something, what can he really do? Georgians put themselves in a bad position, but with that said Russia is walking a dangerous line, they don't have much support in this and are at risk of increased isolation.

Kosovo: ethnic majority want to break away from sovereign country: USA supports them on the principle of self determination (and incidentally bombs Serbian civilians).

South Ossetia: ethnic majority want to break away from sovereign country: USA supports that country's attempt to stop them by force.

Why the hypocrisy??
