This was a clear case of the criminal justice process working in the method in which it was designed.. 1st of course Mr. Venable was wise to select a bench trial.. With Bordeaux's history, he seriously could have beaten Mr. Venable to death.. It's sad that the literally savage gorilla blood that courses through the Bordeaux family's veins won't permit them to comprehend that larger, stronger Jeffrey would have violently impaired or killed the smaller Mr. Venable.. The honorable John DeMarco certainly DID & hence ruled quite appropriately that Mr. Venable used CORRECT defense in saving himself.. This should be appropriated as a landmark case where a smaller individual had to indeed employ the use of a weapon to save himself from the horrific attack of a larger individual.. Further, if Venable was female, people would have justified this rapidly.. That is clearly unfair.. There are more cases where a smaller man is unjustifiedly beaten at the hands of larger one due to not defending himself with a weapon.. That will hopefully change now..

He wasn't a woman and he didn't kill in self defense, He could have run away before all this took place but he knew he had an edge, the knife he had behind him and the same one he used to kill this poor mislead fool by his old girlfriend.. NOTHING will change now but a lot of Blacks will take the bench trial because of it and the judges will be the scapegoats when they are proved wrong! No more jury duty for regular people to interupt our lives over two scumbags fightin and killin over a stupid HOBAG Skank!

OR he could have run away knowing full well that in a few weeks Jeffery would be leaving for China and all would have been forgotten by the time he came back in a few years.. You sound as IF you were lurking inside the judges head when he was listening to all the hogwash the killer was saying!! Good thing YOU are not a person that would be controlling a court room murder trial! IT all comes down to the old Money talks and BS walks adage, Venable had an oportunity to run away but knew he had an edge and took it when he started stabbing jeffery right before the 1st punch. He calculated this because these criminal minds work that way. He had it all worked out ahead of time and his GF helped him pull off the biggest scam in Rochesters History so far. This will follow the killer all thru his life now and someday he'll try it again and probably lose out ! Cie La Vie.. Nice that he didn't show ANY remorse over killing another BROTHER anyway, Most blacks don't anyway, that is the un human part of them!.

Wow, I didnít know he was going to China. Iíll bet the defendant didnít know that either. I donít know why you would assume that others would know this. Also he said NOTHING in the trial. He never took the stand.Ē You sound as IF you were lurking inside the judgeís head when he was listening to all the hogwash the killer was saying!! The ďKillerĒ as you call him said nothing. Therefore he said nothing and the only thing on record of him saying anything would be at his arraignment. Also you say he could have run away. Well ALL of the witness who did testify on record said he kept backing away and said he did not want to fight him. The deceased kept pushing and hitting him until he had him down and was on top of him.(This information came out in the trial that he was on top of him when he was stabbed) The defendant used whatever he could to save his life. People have asked ďWhy would he be caring a knife other than to hurt someoneĒ. Iíll bet if you could stop a 100 people on the street today you would find that a great number of them have some types of knife on them and do not plan on stabbing someone today with that knife. So why would the defendant think this way?

Great point. I live in the burbs and I carry a knife when I go out for walks with my kid. For dogs, people, monsters - whatever, I wouldn't think twice about using it if under attack and I wouldn't expect Venable to have any second thoughts either.

No choice. The judge followed the law. The verdict has been decided. This case is about the right for citizens to use deadly force if they are in any way in imminent danger and all about the right to bear arms for personal safety. The rule of law was followed. The trier of fact- the courts, made the right decision. This is not about black or white. This is about one day you may get attacked and are placed in imminent danger and that you have a RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF! God speed to the deceased, and may both families heal from their pain!

Yo Moron of the Week, you even managed to spout more crap that SinglePig did.
Venable could've outran Bordeaux? A Varsity Track star?
Do you have proof that Venable knew Jeff was China-bound? They weren't close friends, didnt live in the same dorm, or were memebers of that frat, I dont think they even shared majors. And it wasn't a "few years" internship, it was for the remainder of the semester or until end of summer so he could return for his senior year.
What hogwash was Venable able to inject into DeMarco's head? He didn't testify. Only time you could hear his voice was during the tape of police questioning him. Maybe Venable could mind control like Men who Stare at Goats.
Who had old money? Not the Venable family. Weeks ago you were crying about Cullerds who get free rides to UofR.
Not a single witness said Venable stabbed Bordeaux b4 the first punch while they were standing. They all said Venable retreated until he was thrown on the couch. He even had the knife out and displayed it on his side with other hand outstretched to stop Bordeaux advance. Venable stabbed him as his face was being split open.
Paper didn't report that EMTs at the jail said Venable had to go to the hospital for his wounds. That a scan showed he had minor cerebral hemmoraging - did you expect him to be beaten until he was unconcious then a coma with a fractured skull? Did you forget Sean Sanders killing Dan Andrews with a punch to the head after a sofball game 3 yrs ago?
If this was premeditated like the dumb ADA said, then Venable would've stabbed him when the 2 first ran into each other in the basement and greeted each other (before Venable was able to locate James), or when Bordeaux initially confronted him and James in the living room when he saw them kissing, or immediately when Bordeaux returned to start the fight, drunk and angered.
