I am ashamed and appauled at the persons who haze in the name of DST. There is NEVER a reason to abuse. My prayers are with those who have been treated in humanely and those who perpertrated the acts of inhumanity.

you should not judge if you do not know the entire story. these are allegations!! before you start slamming people, you should do some research... I doubt you are indeed a Delta...we stick together
My prayers are with everyone involved, and I have faith the the truth will prevail over lies...

One of the students is now facing criminal assault charges, all have been suspended. I think the suspensions were a mistake, they should have been expelled. This type of conduct is completely unacceptable and the universtity needs to send a stronger message that they will not tolerate it.
I think all of the students involved should be facing criminal charges.

Well I am a soror who DOES know the whole story, because I am closely affliated with the chaper. Sorors do NOT stick together to committ crimes ... that is a gang, and its that gang mentality that many young sorors are bringing elements of it into the sisterhood. I will be damned if my daughter pledges any chapter and winds up needing urgent care --- that is where I draw my line in the sands. Sorors need to think about the REAL purpose of our sisterhood, and the vision our founders established for us. Our founders didn't beat the hell out of one another ---where did we get this notion that the harder you pledge, the better soror you become or the more enriched your intake process might be? I pledged many years ago (1983), before pledging was formally banned and became a criminal offense, so I do understand whats up. I am not totally against some form of intake that puts a pyramid in a humbled status for a period of time. It can be fun, challenging, and helps a line gel together by thinking as one. However, my sisters, some of us have moved the line further and further out, and don't seem to think about the consequences of crossing it. Its all fun and games until somebody winds up seriously injured. Sorors need to stick together to develop a plan that truly enriches the lives of the women durig intake and beyond -- what we are doing now is going to lead to the death of the undergraduate intake, and that would be truly sad.

And by the way, my daughter pledged in Tennessee ... I will leave her anonymous to keep her out of it. This is how I became affliated with the local undergrad chapters.

I am a member of another sorority and I pledged when hazing was allowed. I didn't like it then and don't like it now. When a person pledge a sorority or fraternity there is no need to degrade those individuals. I feel that people pledge a sorority/fraternity because there's something they like about the organization. All of the abuse in the world will not make that person feel any stronger. This may sound disloyal but I would encourage any person pledging if they're mistreated - bring criminal charges. I agree with this sister when she stated,"Sorors do not stick together to commit crimes." Criminal behavior is not acceptable in any Greek organization. Very stern measures should be taken by the National Headquarters. The actions of these people bring shame to every member of the organization. The National Pan should come up with some kind of punishment, once charges have been substantiated, that will send a very strong message. The perpetrators membership should also be revoked. This type of behavior is disgraceful. These individuals should realize their sorority or fraternity will not offer any support. I do not feel any remorse when a Greek is sentenced to jail for hazing, because hazing is unnecessary.
