There were lots of other issues like States Rights. They had no choice but to seceed if they wanted to save their culture. All you have to do is visit Atlanta Georgia for a day and you will realize what 100,000 confederate soldiers died to try to protect us from.
To get back on subject, if this fraternity is banned from indulging in their tradition we should also change the names of the Clevland Indians and the Atlanta Braves because it is racially insensitive as well.
We are fast becoming The United States of the Offended. So sad.

The confederate uniforms and flags are a part of Southern history. If you had family that lost their lives for that cause you are just suppose to forget that. What happened to equal rights. If people are denying the South there history, than shouldn't Black History month be banned and Spanish rituals be banned also. The Confederacy is the South's history, you may not like it but you cannot demolish it either. Just to let you know I was born in Massachusetts and was introduced to the Confederacy there. I now live in Alabama and I have 2 rebel flags hanging off my house and a rebel flag tatoo.. My husband was from the south.

I ran out of room When are people going to stop identifying the Confederacy with the KKK. I do not believe in the KKK but I believe in Southern Heritage. My daughter was born in the south and she knows the difference and she is only 14. Muslims, African Americans, Mexican Americans all are able to where there history on there clothes and fly the flags associated with there history but southerners are not aloud. The football team where I was born in Mass. team song was Dixie Land. Imagine that. Southern hospitality is part of the Confederate history. A true southerns manners date back to the Confederacy Era.

If you are old enough that you can remember when "Alabama History" was a required subject you might also remember why the Klan was formed in the first place.

That outfit started in Tennessee after the Civil War, not Alabama, but I guess they really made a name for themselves here with all the killing and violence in the 50's/60's. I took Ala history in school in Birmingham, and nobody (including whites) talked openly about the Klan back then, especially not to 10 yr old school children. Towards the end they were just a bunch of thugs, alcoholics, and sociopaths. These days we'd probably call them terrorists. Very sad time in Alabama history.

I'm not talking about in the 50's and 60's. I am talking about why the Klan was formed right after the Civil War.

Actually my University has gone as far as to say, If you are caught wearing these uniforms, not only will you be expelled from the University, but your chapter will almost certainly lose it's Charter. So in other words, Yes someone is making them quit.
