Wow, Brody and Lanza must be younger than me. I remember going to Kiel Auditorium in 1968 or so to see Carpentier vs. Kiniski for the belt. The best part was that Buddy Rogers was the referee, and he was obviously biased against Kiniski as a result of a long-running feud on Wrestling at the Chase.

That same night, I think it was, Dick the Bruiser had a match (don't remember opponent) and he busted off a piece of a press table to cut up his opponent.

We could always tell good guys from bad guys - maybe that's what I miss most.

Yeah, they did call Carpentier the flying Frenchman, even though he was Polish. There was also a bad-guys Japanese tag team leveraging off WWII sentiments; Kinji Shibuya and Tairo Myaki. Well, Shibuya was actually a Polynesian. "No Chokey! No Chokey!"
