Welfare should be a hand up, not a hand out. The system in the U.S., however, has been designed to keep people in a holding pattern. If you rise up just a bit above the welfare benefit level, all the benefits are taken away! So, why can't it be different? If you are dependent on someone for everything, food (food stamps), housing (rent subsidies), cell phones(communication), clothing and incidentals (TANF), like a child, unless things are made uncomfortable for you, you will never stand on your own two feet and provide for yourself. Why stop children from having children when they get a bonus check each time they do. We are becoming a nation of Honey Boo Boo families. That is sad. Glorifying dysfunction. How can individuals prosper when that kind of behavior is not only acceptable but revered? Reward those who work and are productive instead of those who are lazy and dependent and things will start changing real fast. The twelve step program can work for lazy welfare families, the government and taxpayers would be better off funding something like that instead of all these other freebies.
The only reason that you think that people only work when they are "uncomfortable" is because THAT IS THE WAY YOU ARE!

And, speaking of "subsidies," how come you LOVE to see "Big Oil" get subsidies and "Big Farmers" get subsidies? You LOVE "welfare" but only the "BIG DOLLAR" kind like "Big Oil" gets.

(And "Honey Boo Boo" works and makes more money than you do, Jethro!)

So are we supposed to give more than half our paychecks, AKA let it "trickle down" to those who are lazy and won't work? Will that satisfy you? Yeah, that sounds fair.
Ah, hahahahahahaha! Don't pretend that you are in the 51+% tax bracket, Bubba! In your dreams!

There will always be poor people. Their level of poor however, is just a state of mind, it is different things to different people. Poor here in the U.S. a far cry from poor in another country.

Ah, yes! There will always be "poor." And the poor in the US have more than the poor in other countries, so we can just forget about them.

They don't deserve food anyway.

Even hunger is just a "state of mind."

And their hunger is different to your hunger.

Cite credible studies.(Neither Rush nor "Fox News" are credible for this purpose.)

However, feel free to argue with this study based upon survey data exclusive to The Associated Press: "80 Percent Of U.S. Adults Face Near-Poverty, Unemployment: Survey":

Regarding "nice vehicles," the AVERAGE AGE of personal vehicles in the US is 11.4 years old. The annual number of cars going to salvage yards has dropped by 50%. I will give a "Fox Business" link so "Norton" will perhaps have the courage to click it.

Mitt Romney shares some thoughts for Republicans:

"I badly want Obamacare to go away, and stripping it of funds has appeal. But we need to exercise great care about any talk of shutting down government," Romney said in the first speech of its kind since his November election loss to Obama. "What would come next when soldiers aren't paid, when seniors fear for their Medicare and Social Security, and when the FBI is off duty?"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/06/mitt...

If the Republicans even come CLOSE to "shutting down the government," they will have "awakened," as Admiral Yamamoto said after Pearl Harbor, "a sleeping giant and fill(ed) him with a terrible resolve!"

Gingrich could not get away with shutting down the government when Bill Clinton was president, and the Tea Party cannot get away with it this time. American citizens have just about had their fill of the Tea Party.

Your Neo-CONservatism favors an attitude of "We got ours! Let the peasants starve!" The only problem with the "trickle-down" theory is that nothing ever "trickles down." Just admit that you are selfish. We already know that you are, so why not just admit it and stop pretending?
For years, you propagandists denounced your opponents as being "Communists." When the Soviet Union folded, that "party line" didn't do much good any more, so you started attacking "socialists." When that failed, you have moved to "liberals." You have cried "wolf" so many times that no one CARES whom you attack, since your attacks are all lies anyway.
Speaking of Russia...how did that work out for them? I am selfish? You don't know me... I work, pay taxes, give to charities, but have a hard time supporting (some) people who chose to make bad choices.Who choose to make excuses. Who choose to play the system and their video games while the rest of us work, defend the country, and volunteer our time and energy to help our country/community.If people want assistance take a drug test, look for a job(and there are jobs out there) make some effort to show you want to be self reliant.Dawg,go to the nearest school and watch the children who work/study and the ones that don't. This is a prime example of how most of them are parented, and will be the rest of their lives. The culture in America has become give me something instead of give me an opportunity to prove myself. You are supposedly 80, you are out of touch with the reality of the youth and the generations that came after the late 1900's. Go outside and look at the real world of lazy, lethargic, illiterate, excu se making, parasites who the rest of us are supposed to save. Look at the housing projects, they are destroyed, community centers, destroyed,Detroit(prim e example) The list goes on, Why? They do not appreciate what they don't have to work for. This is basic "math" that you and Obama just can't figure out.If your so giving, give the homeless, drug addicted, guy down the street some money and see how that goes.We need to fix his real problem, and it has little to do with money.....You all cry that there are no jobs...BS, there are no jobs for druggies, cell phone junkies, insubordinate no showing up for work foul mouthed, tattooed from head to toe illiterate people. Now tell me how I Bloviate, but make sure you don't actually respond to the talking points.

Folks have had just about all they can stand with the do noting, don't agree on anything, don't solve any problems congress. Cut off the social security checks, don't pay the solders etc. and see how many politicians can be eliminated in a short time. Al quida may not be their biggest threat.
