It is my opinion that humanity, over the ages, has developed an innnate sense of "right and wrong" which works to help the continuation of the species.<quoted text>
And that is your opinion Dawg allowed by free will. I see it more of live right and be rewarded or live wrong and be punished. Not much different than the laws we live by daily. Murder, steal, ect and be punished. Many people follow the laws of God and the laws of man from knowing the difference of right and wrong, some the fear of being punished, some just don't have believe in anything and think they are invincible. Dawg why do you follow any laws? More out of fear of the punishment or more out of knowing right from wrong or do you think you are invincible?
I have noticed that conservatives, in particular, believe in punishment to assure that humans follow the "code of conduct." As a generality, you agree wholeheartedly in stoning, beheading, imprisonment, and physical punishment. Why? I suppose because you have your beliefs of "right and wrong," and are willing to go to great extremes to make sure that everyone follows your beliefs.
Liberals believe more in behavior modification. There are some things which I believe are simply "right to do" and others which are "wrong to do." If you are a heathen, you probably NEED punishment to follow the right path. If you are a thinking person, no such strictures are needed.
