My father in law was co-owner. After STL they moved to cape, and supposedly did good for the college kids back then, then back to STL, not real sure, but I think it was all the chain pizza places that took them out eventually. I've heard the story a million times, but after a while its in one ear out the other.

I loved Helens up there on Grand Ave near Gravois. That is not a good neighborhood any longer. I love that cornmeal on the bottom of the crust. The sauce was great also.

St Louis in general, has the best pizza. I'm not sure I remember Helen's...There was a Frank and Helen's...Maybe Frank died? As far as chains go, even Imo's pizza is great...But the best ever was at a place called Sunset 44, which has been out of business for years, but not due to the pizza. In Scottsdale, luckily there's a place called Frashers which had authentic St Louis style pizza. Just had some the other night...
