It always takes Missouri a little longer to react, but eventually they get there.

Interesting... I wonder what they think the end result(s) will be. ARE these two now married? Are they waiting for someone to try to sue and show damages to themselves for this couple marrying?

I kinda don't get it... What did they accomplish?

The marriages of those four couples accomplished exactly what was expected. The Attorney General of Missouri, who agrees with Marriage Equality, is going to take the case to court, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch of this morning.

I didn't read this particular article. I read the original in yesterday's Post-Dispatch, and the followup about the Attorney General was in today's issue. You can find it at StLtoday.com

I probably should have looked further than just this article before I asked the question. All this article said was that they were married by a judge and that the judge agreed not to marry anyone else without notifying the state first. Which sounded really weird and pointless.

Knowing that the Attorney General is supportive and going to take it to court makes it all make sense. It's amazing how bad news reporting is anymore....

It's also interesting to note (though not in the article) that Governor Nixon was going to allow same sex couples who had been married in other states to file joint income taxes. He immediately was put under impeachment proceedings for violating the spirit of the State Constitution.

I know the temper of my fellow rural Missourians, and I fear it will be an arduous journey. No, matter. It's a journey worth the effort and it will succeed.

But in this case FED over rides state and they have dropped the impeachment bs. Gov Nixon is on his last term. To bad. My spouse and me were married in Hawaii this last May and we will weigh the options of filing jointly or separate.

Kudos to you and your spouse. I see we are not so far apart in opinions OR geographical locations.

I fully agree with the bs part. It's just that there are some serious head cases in this lovely state. I've known Jeremiah since he was a mere bank president, lol. He has his good points and the great thing about a last term is that the person becomes more interested in how they go down in history rather than how long they can hold on to their job. IMHO only, but I find I've become a bit cynical and jaded in my old age.

Weigh your options carefully....isn't it GREAT to have options?
