New wash machines don't work

Last week my trusted old wash machine quit and my repairman said it wasn't worth spending $250 to repair the clutch. So I went to Lowe's and bought a new Maytag top-loader,a simple ,straight forward machine,or so I thought. On my first load I heard nothing but weird noises,slow-motion agitation, and the mess went on for 65 minutes. Then the clothes came out still dirty. What the...?I was furious. All that "green technology"is supposed to save energy.Instead a load of washing takes twice as long as a normal machine .So I went back in search of a simple ,normal wash machine and got a roper. And when the it came it was the same thing, just for $100 less. This one doesn't like to rinse, just spays a little water on top and rinses it off.Of course it also takes more than an hour. And now my clothes are dirty and soapy. This piece of garbage is going back today and if I can't find a fixer at a yard sale I'm going to the laundry-mat until I do .Has anybody else had similar experiences ?

My old Maytag went out last year as well, bought a GE ....it's quiet, does take a bit longer, but the clothes come out clean, no complaints. It has super load capacity and everything in between....uses less water (yes I peeked when I shouldn't be) but since the clothes are clean, I'm ok with that.

Lowe's tells me that washmachines have been redesigned to be "more efficient".I don't see how they passed that test when a load of laundry takes over 1 hour. They use less water so my clothes come out dirty.I will find me a conventional one ,second hand, and get fixed what I have to to have clean clothes.

I noticed the same thing. I get dirty, and sweaty, and the new wash machines, just aren't like the older ones.
Borax 20 mule Team Detergent,at Wal-Mart,is about the only thing that brings my clothes "back to life".

Why do people who have nothing to contribute, INSIST upon saying SOMETHING/ANYTHING worthless, just to see their post?!?!

I hear the new dishwashers don't clean as good as the old ones either, the 2 people told me about new freezers who constantly tear up.On lady who quilts took back 3 irons before she got a good one.Don't get me started on the converter boxes to watch regular TV,they seem to be made to last 2years tops. And I like my old lightbulbs too.

Excuse you! I'm telling you this from experience, I have gone through 3 Maytag appliances and have had nothing but problems! Oh and by the way they were all new! So don't be so quick to judge!

First you are one name, then you are another. By just saying "its cause its a Maytag" doesn't tell anyone anything except you have a grudge against maytag for SOME reason. So if you are going to take the time to post, say the first time what you explained the second. Just sayin

We who do laundry know when appliances all of a sudden go to the dogs.Maytags are now manufactured by whirlpool and who knows where the parts are made.Lowes'saleslady said South Korea.I'm not here for a grudge,I just think when the wash machines were redesigned they ruined them.I've done laundry for 35 years and know a good wash machine from a bad mess.

Honestly its worth fixing your old washing machine. Ive recently purchased new washing machine from future shop. Its fking garbage! Doesnt even fill up half way. And I still find some of my clothes a little dry. Thats not fking clean at all!! Costed me around $500 for a piece of shit.

I love my 1 and a half year old whirlpool frontloader. Its never failed to do a great job. I do always use extra rinse, because its a HE machine and desiged to use less water, and I have senstive skin, but it works just as well as my old maytag toploader from the 80s, washes a load in 50 minutes even with extra rinse. It sounds to me like people are buying the cheapest machines available and complaining about them. You can't use cheap detergent either. You have the internet, look up the equipment you're thinking of buying and you will see what other people have to say about them. I rejected the idea of several brands before buying, based on service histories and customer complaints. Its pretty ridiculous to not research things on the very same internet you use to bitch about them after you don't.

The new ones don't fill but about half way on rince. If you take off the front cover there is a switch in there for the water level. It shows U.S. or International. It can be switched to inter. That same washer sold in Canada fills up with water.
