Consumers BEWARE! 2012 Ford Escape purchased 12/11. Rear window STILL leaks after 3 times in their service department in only 9 months!!! The first 2 times, we were told gasket was "adjusted". The 3rd time, we were told the gasket was "replaced". Wonder what they would say this time...not that they will have the opportunity to attempt to correct the problem again. 3 strikes, you're out, Sunset Ford!!!!!

Fruitloop: You obviously know nothing of the situation, but thanks for your input! Daddies: Why should I take a bus when I work to buy transporation of my own? This vehicle shouldn't be leaking...but at the very least, it should have been resolved at the first service visit and not be requiring a 4th.

They have reps that handle these sort of things. As for Sunset, I purchased my `09 truck there and have received excellent service. When I had out of town company my seat latch broke. We needed the truck to haul everyone around.(Crew cab truck) I was in and out in a couple of hours.

Dthunderchicken: I received word from Ford yesterday and was told to given them a couple of days to conduct an investigation. They said they would be in touch. Then they added that the Ford dealerships are independently owned and operated. I have a feeling I know what that means, but I'll continue to pursue. Thank you for your suggestion and seriously, I'm glad you've had better luck with these people than I. :)

Thank you for your suggestion and seriously, I'm glad you've had better luck with these people than I.:) The only dealing I've had with a Ford rep was a dispute over a fleet vehicle. The Ford rep basically told the dealership to suck it up and make us happy. The dealership did just that. Shortly thereafter, the dealership folded. From the impression I got, Ford and this dealership had a rough history. IMO the dealership acquiesced more to keep Ford happy than to keep us happy. Good luck. And don't hesitate to make a scene if you have to. Sometimes an irate customer in a crowded showroom is what it takes.

Could it be a cleanliness problem? Knowing nothing about Explorers but I've experienced that if I don't keep the gasket and window surface on mine and my wife's vehicles very clean, I get leakage.(Mine is the `09 with an aftermarket shell. Hers is a hatchback wagon.) Just a thought since I cleaned mine before the recent storms. Again good luck.

Final outcome? Two leaks were found...rear brake light. Another dealership took the time to actually look into the issue and resolved it. No more leaks and one former "Disgruntled Customer". However, Sunset Ford will never see me again...and I will continue my efforts to persuade those to go elsewhere.

I had a Thunderbird that the service department had more than I did, cost me several hundred dollars every visit to the dealership for the same problem every time. Sunset Ford hasn't changed much I see. The people remarking on you being a cry baby are idiots who can afford to sit on the internet insulting people but not buy their own car.
