Johnson – Villanueva
The Ward County Coliseium was the setting for the recent wedding uniting Kia Marie Johnson to Roberto Villanueva. The bride is a graduate of Kermit High School and resides in Fort Worth, Texas where she is employed by Smithville Foods. The groom is a graduate of Buena Vista High School and resides in Greenville, Texas where he is employed by Campbell Foods.
Sunflowers lined the sand covered walkway with guest seating adorned with Stargazer Lily’s. A group of mature mesquite trees formed an elegantly casual backdrop for the exchanging of vows.
The bride was attired in a scoop neck chiffon gown. The skirt was encrusted with crystals with a lace overlay. She wore her hair in a French twist topped with intertwined daisies and sunflowers. Pearl earrings and her sister’s pearl necklace completed her ensemble. The groom wore a three piece, sky blue suit with a burnt orange bow tie.
She was escorted down the aisle by her father, Mitchell Johnson. He wore a deep blue suit with a white linen shirt and deep blue tie. The bride’s mother, Stephanie Mitchell was adorned a champagne colored strapless peasant waist gown featuring a crystal trimmed bodice. Mary Villanueva, mother of the groom wore a navy silk halter dress with embroidered straps and gemstone trim.
The groom’s father, Eduardo Villanueva served as Best Man and Cynthia Cleland, the bride’s friend served as Matron of Honor.
Johana Spence, friend of the couple played guitar and serenaded the ceremony with “When A Man Loves A Woman” and “Love, Simply Love.” The couple wrote their own vows and guests witnessed a very inspiring and emotional exchange with both bride and groom shedding tears of happiness.
The sunflower theme carried over to the reception area. Large garlands of sunflowers and daisies hung from the beams and hundreds of recycled baby food jars held flickering tea lights making for a warm romantic setting. Bouquets of sunflowers and daisies adorned the long tables atop linen tablecloths.
The wedding cake was a eight layer fudge chocolate topped with butter cream frosting decorated with fresh giant sunflowers. An assortment of fruits, vegetables and meats surrounded the cake in addition to a butterscotch fountain. Jo Jo and the Hounds performed and entertained guests throughout the evening. For their honeymoon to Florida the bride changed into white cotton slacks and a purple halter top paired with purple heeled sandals. The couple will reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
