Child Custody question
Concerned

I have joint custody of my son. I usually have him 3-4 nights per week. I've heard my ex-wife may be trying to leave the state. Can she legally take my son with her? Do I have rights? I have joint custody but she has residential custody. The papers are worded that he is with me the same set of days every single week. Anyone been through this or have any suggestions on what to do?

If you share joint custody the parent can't move out of state to which would deny you your visitation/custody of the child. If she does you can get her for contempt.

I would think that she could not do this without your agreeing to it. If you have good communication with each other would tell her that you do not agree with the move that she wants to make and legally you have the ight to spend the time allotted to you to have time with your child. If she argues then you should contact your lawyer and have a letter sent to her telling her that.

You are so rude....for one thing, when you are going to court, over divorce, child custody etc....you are more concerned about the immediate welfare of your child...not a shitload of "what ifs" that may or may not be down the road.

This reply makes no sense. Who on earth are you even TALKING to, the original poster (the only one who asked about a child), the person who called you out, or the one who knows you?!?!
