I'm thinking of moving to STL and opening a motorcycle shop specializing in Harley-Davidsons,I specialize in Engine and Trans rebuilds and machine work, with 30 years experience in the business, any comments or suggestions?any areas to look at? I was told that south STL did not have a shop other than the dealership in south county, any info would be appreciated
well so city is a good place to start a bike shop but there are many and many ppl prefer not to use someone they don't know. A lot of these owners are well known and work with their customers n ways a friend would. The clubs use and refer ppl to certain shops. U may have a chance since a few places are getting bad raps now. South city and st Charles county are ur best bet.anywhere else u run n 2 the "credit card bikers" that only take their over prices junk to the dealer. Good luck and post if u open it so we can come to ur shop I know a few ppl lookin for a new place.

What happened was that the "biker" image became too popular, and too many people went for it, which brought about many changes. Whereas in the Old Days we had good reasons to take pride in having created our motorcycles ourselves, including fabricating many of the parts, as expressions of each individual's unique artistic vision manifested in a machine that was also a work of art personally created by him, subsequent generations bought into the image without ever possessing or developing the talents to build custom bikes themselves, and it became more a game of "dress up and pretend," as if every day were Halloween and their costume was a biker suit. These boys bought factory choppers or paid chopper shops to build them for them, if they could come up with enough money, yet they acted as if just wearing a biker costume were something to be proud of, and clever entrepreneurs cashed in by selling them Harley-themed merchandise, clothing and chopper accessories at jacked-up prices, and/or by charging them up the wazoo for building their choppers. We regarded these boys as sidewalk commandos who focused on style over substance, yet there were so many of them, they overwhelmed the scene, and that changed things enough that a lot of us just moved on rather than be included in the stereotype that had developed. And of course some of the old-school guys kept doing what they always did, and capitalized on the new situation, or died young from hard living and self-abuse or violent encounters of one kind or another. Change is the nature of the universe.

We're impressed. You're bad. Why don't you drop by the El Forastero clubhouse and brag about intentionally causing motorcycle riders to crash? I'm sure they'd be interested in hearing about it. Or any motorcycle club's clubhouse, for that matter.

No courage is demonstrated when you issue insults over long distance anonymously. You're not gaining any admirers here, but please continue. The more you say, the worse you look.
