what a joke. Small business will close or 40 hour a week people will be working 25 hours. Business will hire retired people under the table $6 an hour for 3 or 4 hours 2 or 3 days a week for fun money and bingo money.

This wouldn't be such an issue if so many large corporations weren't focused on long term pay stagnation in favor of 10x management pay. If a corporations ceo can earn 100million the employees can have fucking $9 an hour guaranteed. I agree not everyone is worth 9 bucks, but if they're worth hiring and the company can still profit, enough to buy groceries and entry level housing isn't insane. Do the math, $9 an hour is still less than 1500 a month, and comparitvely less than $4 was in 1985, when EVERYthing cost less than half what it does now, it didn't close businesses then. Its either raise the minimum or create a maximum, pick one, or watch the middle class shrink to extinction, just like every elitist society forever. Most employee compensation has virtually frozen for 10yrs, while upper management pay has skyrocketed 1000% in the exact same time.
