This world is coming to a scary place when you see kids doing these horrible things. What makes them think its okay to act like this? Whatever happened to the knowledge of right from wrong? A boy beating a girl? Racial tensions between children? Its getting to the point where you dont want to let your child out the door to go to school. I have a daughter in elementary school and she has been 'flashed' on the bus, and attacked with a pencil by a fellow classmate right in front of the teacher who used to be her friend one grade level ago. Whats going to happen next? I dont care to see the video of what happened on this bus, but if we dont start getting tough with the offenders its only going to get worse. I shudder to think what worse would be...

Let's see if I have this straight. They have a video on the school bus. Is it for the entertainment of the school supervisors? If it will not be released to the police in the event of a crime, how is it protecting the kids from serious incidents and injury.(Also, a great example to kids on the importance of cooperating and supporting the police.) This girl was repeatedly punched by this boy on the bus. The school has proof of this. Yet the boy was arrested and released to his parents.(Parental supervision and control is obviously working so well for this family already.) Wow, great way to show a serious regard for the protection of students on school buses.

At what point is it going to be more important to protect students in general than to coddle out-of-control bullies.

Our kids are important. Let's start showing them that we care.

Educational record? Better comparision should be Prison Record, so sick and tired of the bullying, attacks and abuse of students by the "fine upstanding students of the various schools" what happened to the zero tolerence rule that these same schools so proudly whined about?

If a student brings in a cough drop by mistake the shools 0 tolerence rule kicks in and the student is kicked out, but if another student attacks and beats the daylights out of another student or harrases them not a blasted thing is done. This is the seond incident of this happening on a school bus, maybe they need to place guards on the buses with the ability to arrest, hand cuff and detain the attackers. A couple of months in a juvenile detention center would be a decent idea

They should release it; they are right to think the public needs to see what is going on these schools. There should be no question in expelling that child from school.

This is very sad. It makes you really afraid for the little ones that are just beginning school. I don't feel that this boy should have been released to his parents this soon. He needs to realize what he did was wrong. That sends the wrong message to all young people if he has no serious consequences. Hornetman that is very racist of you to blaim it on all blacks. I'm sure they can't carry all the blame. If you don't know your statistics SHUT YOUR MOUTH. Our children need help as a whole not just one race. If there are more out here as ignorant as you God Bless our children because no wonder where they get their violent behavior. I guess these violent kids turn into people like you. What is this world coming to?

What bull they can not turn over the tapes. What federal idiot made that rule saying it was education privacy?

My son was attacked on a Hazelwood Central Middle school bus and because he defended himself they gave him 5 days suspension. When I asked the school district what my child should do they told me to tell my child to ball up in a knot and take the punisment until an adult or police get there. Hazelwood is a good school district but they need to look at their violience situation a lot closer because it has been happening a lot lately and they don't want it to leak to the public.I felt my child had the right to defend himself I believe his constitutional rights where violated.

When I went to central, I remember there were a ton of fights. I specifically remember the rule that Flo is talking about and everyone agreed it was a stupid rule. If you do anything to defend yourself, you get suspended as well. I understand that it can be hard for admins to be sure who started the fight, but the rule is too extreme.

I don't think this is an issue of a school trying to cover anything up. You must remember that this involves minors and there are laws that protect minors, both victims and perpetrators. Most school districts have policies against releasing such videos and I think Belleville was wrong for releasing their video. Nor should the district make public comment about the incident for the same reason. It is for the protection of ALL students, not for the protection of the aggressor or the district itself. There have been too many expensive, frivilous lawsuits against our public schools so they must take this approach to avoid wasting taxpayers' dollars on lawyers' fees.

Lack of parenting...truly this boy thought that what he did "was" an option...

Lawyers advertising that they will sue for almost anything including a school district releasing info to the police about a thug beating another student...

When does a school district district decide to conceal crimes from the authorities? What has become of society?

I guess the good Christian beliefs and morals that our country was founded on are truly out the window with our countries current leadership.

Do you want to fear the future? Step up and make some noise.

I personally know the family of the girl that was attacked on the bu.The community and the police parents and school board should all beaware of the racial problems in our schools. The district has taken the aproch that it is easyer to blame the victum beacause they dont want to stur the pot because it is a black child asualting a white one.it is not cocidered a hate crime. If it looks like a duck quacks like a duck its a duck hate is hate reguardless of race. The district needs to take a stand and follow their own policy of no tolerance.

They need to release the video so everyone can see what is going on. The kid who did this, needs to be in Jail and also to get expelled from school.
Lets just hope they release the Video.
Hazelwood School probably doesn't want to get a bad mark or reputation against them.
My heart goes out to the girl who got beaten. Hope she is ok.

there are no minors in jail, this one needs to spend a couple of month in juvenile detention. 0 tolerence, the video needs to be made public, the attacker needs to get a couple of months being supported by the state in a correctional facility.

by the way this is criminal noew and not educational, so the school districts reasoning is invalid
