Does anyone know anything about Al Capone having ties in Saint Louis during the prohibition days?

Also I was told a story when I was younger of a famous Gangster who had ties with Al Capone being shot under the chain of Rocks Bridge, but cant find any information at all on it, So I am thinking that if this did really happen maybe they got the bridges confused?

My great grandfather worked for al Capone. He ended up providing financial books to the IRS which resulted in Capone going to jail. I think he (my grandfather) lived in the holly hills area before he was murdered in Chicago by capone's cronies.

Actually, would love more info on this. My grandfather and his people were from St. Louis, MO. I have always been told a story, by my grandfather, that had to do with Capone and prohibition in St. Louis. My great- great grandfather was a detective back in the days of prohibition and had to flee the city of St. Louis because of info on capone and other gang members. This caused our last name to be respelled apon his return to St. Louis.

. Capone wasn't just a criminal, with everybody around him happy and prosperous, he was a sick f*ck, vengeful, murdering bastard who killed like you and I blow our nose. Giving up somebody like that doesn't make you a rat, it makes you a hero. Rats are people who tell for profit or get busted doing their crime and tell on their mates. The only better thing to do would have been whack'im, but EVERYbody wanted to do that, so he had a ring of bodyguards at all times.

See the above post. I'm not tellin on the guy next door for sellin dope, but if I know a sick, bully, thievin, murderin bastard, I'm gonna put'im in the pen or whac'im myself or I couldn't live with myself. Once you start hurting people the whole 'rat' thing goes out the window, so crammit. Screw the mob, screw gangs, screw thugs, they're all scum to be rid of any way necessary.

Al Capone did try to muscle his way into St Louis but was turned away.At that time Egans Rats and the Cuckoo Gang controlled the rackets and booze.A couple of guys Capone sent to STL to organize never came back.I know my uncle Harvey Miller was a old time ganster during this era.He told me they try to recruit him and several others but they had no interest in joining up with him. When Capones men didnt return he knew what had happened and he said in a meeting that them boys in STL are cuckoo thence the name stuck calling the St Louis crew the Cuckoo Gang.

That is where you are wrong. I know for a fact that Al Capone had some BIG ties in STL. Some of The Egan's Rats actually helped Al Capone in the St. Valentines Day Mascre. This is common knowledge to anyone who knows anything about history. It was confirmed that Fred Burke of Egan's Rats in STL and three of his men were the gun men of St.Valentines Day and were hired by none other than Al Capone. The chicago family did some jobs for them, and they did some jobs for The Chicago family. The Chicago, STL, and Kansas City italian crime familes were all connected and working together during the prohibition days. Egan's rats, The cuckoo's,The pillow Gang,The Green One's,and The Hogan gang were the 5 main gangs in STL.

Actually Al Capone didn't send any men to STL, and none of his men were killed by The cuckoos. He came to STL himself. He visited Saint Louis often under the name of Al Brown, and often stayed at The Jefferson Hotel. He did make the comment to a mutual friend that them boys in STL are Cuckoo, and the clan liked the name and adopted it.
