Remember the Kirkwood City Council shootings? An attorney for the daugher of one of the victims seems to claim that the guard, ..apparently should have prevented Thornton from entering . . . somehow (this was after Thornton had already killed a police officer in the parking lot, and taken his gun)..

If the guard had shot Thronton while trying to keep him out of the council meeting, I'm sure that the daughter would also be sueing.

Had the security guard been armed, he too would be dead (at least wounded). Those guys receive the minimum amount of training and by design they aren't expected to use their weapon. They are expected to surrender or hide if necessary. You really expect a guy making $10 an hour to give his life for a job? Remember, Thornton shot a couple of police too. Why didn't the police kill Thornton when he was shooting at everyone?

When suing, sue everyone! It is the City of Kirkwood's fault for not budgeting for more armed guards, or their own police for that matter.

What exactly does suing someone have to do with "closure" for the family? All that I have seen on this says that the family stated this will bring closure...funny how money des that to people.

Jim you are absolutely right, these companies might train you to use the weapon, make you qualify with it for the money, but you better not use it regardless weather you are right or wrong your but will be fired. All they worry about is liability!
