W.Va. Lottery revenues down from 2012
#1 Dec 4, 2013
Revenue is down because they are tight and with small payouts, people aren't playing. The Lottery needs to understand that if no one is sitting in the seat then they don't have a chance at their money. The State can say what they want but, the facts are the facts. The lottery returned $81 million to the State after posting a 1.9% operating expense. That is unheard of in the real business world. This is money that could have been awarded to the people who made that possible; the players.
On top of that the select few who do win more than $1200 are required to return a large portion in taxes. With little or no chance at getting it returned because you can only write off your losses up to the amount of winnings AND that is if you itemize your taxes.
C'mon guys how much is enough?

They have to develop new and exciting games that will attract players to play again. Huge jackpot prize definitely put players on the edge of their seat and check who gets the prize.
