why even arrest people for wrong doing. they keep doing evil anyway because they know they get right back out. how many do you see on here with multiple arrests. the state has caught on to the game arrest/release. there has to be some kind of financial type funding gain for the state jail/corrections/law enforcement even though there is cost to the state for housing, etc. of the prisoners. sort of like the funding gain a school gets daily based on how many students are in attendance. if jailing people was really a great hardship then no one would be arrested. BUT because thieves/killers/those who beat up others and other crimes that hurt people and are a danger to the public are let right back out where is the safety of being protected. WHEN YOUR HOUSE OR VEHICLES CAN BE VANDALIZED AND PROPERTY STOLEN WHILE YOUR AT HOME OR EVEN WITHIN YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD THATS ENDANGERMENT TO SOCIETY AND JAIL TIME SHOULD BE LONGER TO TEACH A LESSON THAT CRIME DOES NOT GET YOU GOOD ATTENTION OR FREE MEAL/RIDE TO BECKLEY TO SIGHTSEE AND HAVE GOOD CONVERSATION THEN POST BOND AND BE BACK OUT WITHIN 12 HOURS.
The jails are making money off the inmates. You have to pay 30.00 booking fee each time you go to jail. You have to buy anything you need e.i. writing paper, pens, envelopes, stamps, personal items and food. They are served breakfast at 5:30 am: lunch at 11:30 am and dinner at dinner @ 5:30 pm. The food portions are so small that you have to buy food from commassary to survive...mashed potato serving is one ice cream scoop. Some inmates don't get anything if the larger guys take your food. Guards don't care. I had a nephew that was in jail for 2 wks.....he went three days without any food, because the larger guys would take his food.

When the prisoners are released they can't get a job if there is a felony against them. They have no where to go, but back to jail. The jail is not a good system for rehabilitation, all it does is put hatred in them. They put them in a pod and let them fight it out. Just like putting a bunch of dogs in a kennel. Whomever, is the strongest or the biggest comes out on top. The smaller ones gets beat up and does with out food. And the guards dont give a s---.

Maybe they should stay out of jail to begin with then they would not have to worry about food portions and not being able to get a job.

why are they always released the same day
whats the diff in pre trial mis and pre felon
pre trial misdenmener the person is being held for misdemener crime waiting for sentencing (trial) and the same goes for pre trial felon. People are released on bond they may be free from jail but they are not free if it's a pre trial felon they are put on probation and are checked on once a week in person they have to be home at a certain time usually around 8pm and a officer calls to confirm they are at home and they do random drug testing. And yes the money helps the sheriff, magistrate offices, and other departs.

Good Grief.....HAve people never heard of DUE PROCESS? It's called the American Justice System: Innocent until proven guilty by a Jury of your PEERS or a Judge? You have a right to ANSWER to charges brought against you...this isn't ITALY!

As long as the prison system is privatized it will never change. Too many rich people make too much money off of it. Most of the people who invested in these prisons are judges, law enforcement, ect... They have a financial interest in the prison and a reason to keep it full. he United States has the largest prison population of any country in the world, and we are not even close to the biggest most populated country. They pass new laws every week, when there are no criminals you must create them by making nearly everything illegal. That is what is going on in America today. Look at the UK if you want to see the future of the USA. They take fat kids away from their parents over there and lock you up in jail for saying something racist. They have about as much freedom of speech as the chinese did under Mao.

FYI SRJ is only equiped to house 350 people at this time they have almost doubled their imates. SRJ has no room for them maybe that is why they are let out on bond so fast. As crime increses they need to build on then you will see them in there longer. The inmates civl rights are in question here for a simple driving mistormeator they are put in with the real crimals and that is cousing a real problem for SRJ.
