The troll just wants to get a rise out of people. I usually don't respond to that type of thing, but I was mildly amused until it couldn't even respond (except with the same lame, beat into the ground, old as hell stereotypes) when faced with the truth. It was the one that compared WV and FL and then proceeded to say how stupid it was to compare the two when I was just pointing out how uninformed it was. Hell, it couldn't even understand truth2 was being sarcastic, it thought they were being serious! I like Florida, I've been there a few times, but this heifer is psycho. Like we aren't aware of the condition of our own state, really? We've been the brunt of jokes forever, but most people are intelligent enough to know that it's tongue in cheek kidding, and WV is mostly like everywhere else, not a third world country. What the troll doesn't realize is the celebrities and politicians in FL are the same as the millionaire and billionaire coal barons, multinational coal corporations, and politicians rubbing elbows with Jim Justice at the Greenbrier here, they may fling a little money around, but their residency is in another state or country, and therefore does nothing for the statistics of the state.

The majority of parents today take very little interest in their children's lessons and homework. As a parent, you have a responsibility to monitor your children's daily classwork, find out what they learned, check over their test papers, attend parent-teacher conferences, find out if your child is having difficulty in a specific subject and take a proactive approach to helping them. Your child's failure or achievements in school do not fall specifically on the educators. As responsible parents we have an obligation to help our children to the best of our ability. We don't all have to be college graduates to listen to them read every night, help them with math or social studies. What we do have to be is interested enough in our children to want the best for them and help them achieve to the best of their abilities to ensure that they have a good education for their future. I am not an educator; I am a full-time working mom but helped my children every night and got involved in their schooling and I am proud to say that all 3 of my children are college educated and I am now doing the same for my grandchild. Success begins at home.

I do wish you well and hope you finish your "panhandling" classes soon. Yes possum, people do "brag" about living in Florida. We have some of the most expensive stores, homes and real estate in the country. Unlike Wrong Turn country that the rest of the country makes fun of. Don't attempt to impress me with your glorious shopping in WV. We have been there more times than you can count and aren't impressed in the least. The natural beauty of the mountains is all we care for there and have a lovely 100 acre estate with a lovely mansion. I would never trade my residence for the hills of Wrong Turn country. We happen to live in a 12000 square foot mansion here in Heathrow,Florida just outside Orlando. Our pool cost more than just about any home in WV. So yes, possum, I am better than you and always will be. I've stepped over better than you on my way to exclusive stores who cater to me and my friends. Good luck in your "service industry" career. Hey, hag, you may wish to re-examine the definition of lady and then consider whether it does truly apply to you. My thoughts are that you loathe to look at yourself for fear of what you will see. To avoid looking at yourself, you strike out against others first. You really are quite transparent. And, you are no lady.

Possum, I do forgive you for your ignorance. Primarily because you are in appalachia, then again because I am such a loving and forgiving person. No dear, I am quite lovely and hear it all the time from various sources. I love looking in the mirror and at times I am even amazed at my personal beauty. Is it my most precious asset? No, not by a long shot. My wealth is, followed by my husband and children. Well, it's off to rest for awhile, a rather busy day tomorrow. I agree Jamie! The heart is in the right place, they want to make sure students have certain concepts and skills down appropriate for their age level. However, it doesn't challenge gifted children, its monotonous drilling for average students (keeping them average), and its too fast paced for slower learners to catch on, leaving them struggling more. Not to mention unneeded stress on teachers! For example, they may have a classroom that can recite the Declaration of Independence word for word, but the test just wants to know how many people signed it... Even though they covered that in class, the emphasis would've been on the content and why it was created, so they may or may not remember the smaller details, and the test doesn't reflect accurately on their knowledge or the teacher's efforts.

You're no lady, hag, and you're a piss-poor example for children to be around. Your mother must be disappointed in you, unless she passed along a low self-esteem issue to you. We suggest that you seek psychiatric help as soon as possible, for the well-being of your children. It's the least you can do for them. Maybe it's not too late for you to be helped. Advancements in behavioral therapy and psychopharmacology may hold some hope for you. In the mean time, you can kiss my Southern West Virginia ass, both sides.

Possum, you definately need anger management. A first,I thought, Hmmm, Isn't that strange? Psychological advice from Wrong Turn country!!!The state that is at the bottom of the list on just about everything, even raising little possums. Then a friend of ours who is a pofessor said to me,"Hagatha, these people have been so beaten down over the years. They know they are inferior and behind the times. They live in poverty and ignorance in the mountains. They will and do lash out at anyone or anyting that they perceive as a threat." sO POSSUMS, I do understand your pain and torment. Well Hagatha, you asked, so I was glad to compile some stats for you:
Poverty levels are at 18.2% in WV and 17% in Florida. That isn't so impressive when you consider the opportunities for work due to tourism in Florida.

The unemployment rate in WV is 6.6 and in Florida, 7.2. That's right, Florida has many more unemployed folks than WV.

The median yearly household income in WV is $36,000-40,000; Florida's is $40,000-46,000; that is with the income of the movie stars, retirees, celebrities, and business magnates,( the ones you are so impressed by), figured into the average. I'm duly UNimpressed.

In WV, 2% of the populace receives public assistance, while 1.7% receives benefits in Florida. Considering Florida's population is so much larger, that amounts to thousands more in Florida who ride the coattails of those who work.

Home ownership in Florida stands at 69%. It is an impressive 79% in West Virginia. Would you care to discuss the foreclosure rate and the fact that many "million-dollar" homes are sitting empty in Florida, because the housing market there is still in the crapper?

Finally, violent crime rates are 688 per 100,000 in Florida and 332 per 100,000 in West Virginia.

All statistics were verified through the U.S. Census Bureau.

Frankly, yes, I do feel better about my home state because numbers don't lie. Also, any college professor worth his salt wouldn't make generalizations about an entire state's population. It would be nice if you could actually spell the word "professor" and write cohesive paragraphs. It might also help to do your homework before making comparisons.

Namecall and pontificate all you want. It won't make you a better person. Please do tell more fibs about your "hundred-acre estate". That one made me laugh out loud!

If it makes you feel good to refer to the fine people of the Mountain State as "possums", go ahead, all though the actual term is "opossum". We shall henceforth refer to you as an armadillo, since I have frequently seen them smashed on the road in southern Florida.

So......why did the possum cross the road? A.: To show the armadillo it could be done!

This has been so much fun, and I have wasted enough of this cold Saturday. Have a wonderful evening, Hag.
