Trashing West Virginians

You can imagine my response, as a born-and-raised West Virginian, to the article about the coming movie "Shelter" seeking paid extras who are "Gothic characters -- including an albino-like girl and deformed ...

Its amazing how "urban" dwellers always feel they are more intelligent than people who live in Appalachia or more rural areas of the country.

You'd think that with all of their "education" they would be smart enough to figure out that when they portray West Virginian's as backward inbred hillbillies they are only showing how uneducated and backward they are...Go figure

Sadly, many people have to put others down in order to lift themselves up. That won't ever change. I find it just the opposite. When I say something bad about someone, it makes me feel terrible; but, I find that speaking of the good in others always makes me smile. There are many wonderful people in WV and it is a beautiful state, too bad that others don't see that.

Forreal dude! Why is it that i'm such a nice person..i don't even talk sh!t when someone talks it about me...but there are these girls that are SO insecure that use to be my "friends" but seem to ALWAYS talk so much sh!t now about me behind my back? I haven't did anything..it's just insecurities and i don't understand it...i don't talk crap about them back or anything..and sometimes i feel like that's what they want! but i'm just not into drama ya know....i mean it's really hurtful being so nice to someone then hearin all the crap they have said about you to your "old man" or other friends or somethin...it sucks man!

I just read that the casting director for "Shelter" has been fired for insensitive casting calls to depict people from West Virgina.
Good- Maybe he or she can read a book sometime or come here themselves and see how little they know about us.
