I'm really quite disillusioned when it comes to politics. Especially when it comes to Windham County!

Vermont could be a much nicer state if Windham county would be it's own state. The 51 first state making Rhode Island big state.

"PRINCETON, NJ -- More states are politically competitive this year than was the case in 2009, as fewer Americans nationwide identify with the Democratic Party. Vermont -- along with the District of Columbia -- is the most Democratic state in the U.S. in 2010 so far, while Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho are the most Republican."

When I think back to the days of Camelot with JFK in the White House trying to reach Kenneth Galbraith for advice on serious pressing economic matters that snowy day when phone lines went down and good old JFK sent the Vermont State Police to the Galbraith home to reach out and touch, that says it all about the Galbraith family and Peter also who is a leader with international experience.

All the letters of support for all the candidates speak volumes for our elected bodies and yes they all are more than qualified and they are good decent Vermont citizens we trust and Peter is also a favored son of Vermont with Global expertise and understanding of the complexities we as a nation face and Vermont needs his wisdom and leadership so please vote for Peter and remember silent Cal he also left Vermont but came home an history is about to repeat itself with a great leader.

For one brief shining moment there was Camelot "Shine on Vermont"

Thank you Joyce.

While I have long enjoyed reading Joyce Marcel's work, I think her brief passing "impression" underestimates the seriousness of my work and the depth of my record of accomplishment.

I have invited her to a sit-down interview, and not received a reply. I hope we can talk sometime soon. If we had spoken, here's some of what I would share:

In the last two days, every newspaper in the state offering editorial board endorsements (five of them) have endorsed me:

* the St Albans Messenger
* Bennington Banner
* Addison Independent
* Herald of Randolph
* Manchester Journal

I am humbled and excited both to have received these editorial board endorsements.

The corps of senior editors, writers, and publishers who make these determinations are like the village elders of our day--they have all been in the business for 30 or more years, they care deeply about our state, and they are not taken in by rhetoric. There's only one way to win their endorsement: have a solid plan for moving the state forward backed up by a track record of getting the job done.

The endorsements have all cited my non-partisan style that has repeatedly brought people together and enabled me to pass ten bills in the last four years, a performance that one paper called "an enviable record for the most seasoned of legislators."

My work includes passing major bills on rebuilding our food system, developing our biomass energy industry, helping agriculture diversify, and getting more fresh food into our schools.

I hope to win the confident support and vote of Ms Marcel when she learns more about my background.

And I hope to earn the confident support and vote of readers of the Reformer, the paper my mother and her family read every day as she grew up in Brattleboro.

Best wishes to Brattleboro and Windham County,
--Chris Bray

Galbreath is ok. He is smarter than the others and his international experience has to be helpful even if not directly on point but I need to say two things.

First he has also condemned VY without having the benefit of the system to determine whether it is safe to relicense. He has said it is unsafe and he does not have direct knowledge of whether it is or not. His statement is therefor just a political statement.

Second, he has about as much in common with the political philosophy of Calvin Coolidge as Obama has with George Bush or Ronald Reagan.

It is amazing what people say on here. We can only blame it on lack of education and lack of effort.

I would ask Galbreath if he agreed with his father's opinion about Vermont that it should one day just be a service economy for the rich people who would live here.

Howard is a ditz who only opposes VY licensing as a political issue he thinks can get him elected. Even his friends chuckle when they talk about him running for Lt Gov. If you had listened to Howard that same Gallery Walk night you wouldn't have heard simplistic plans for saving Vermont. You would have heard nothing at all.

This beautiful State deserves much better than them!
Cloe, you keep throwing out that opinion and I have yet to see you post any specifics.

With the exception of committing Vermont to purchase foreign energy from Canada and declaring mega hydro power plants renewable, I am unable to think of any "fiasco" committed by Jim Douglas. Governor Douglas has been serving the people of Vermont for more than 35 years. I think that everyone can agree that we have all made mistakes in the last 35 years. I have pointed out two, show us the others.

Even while you disagree with Jim Douglas, I remind you that in Vermont the Governors Office and the Lt Governors office are voted on seperatly. Vermont can have a Governor and a Lt Governor who belong to different political parties.

While Governor Douglas and Lt Governor Brian Dubie are both Republicans, I point out that Vermont has placed Patrick Leahy (D), Bernie Sanders (I) and Peter Welch (I) in Federal office at the same time they elected two Republicans to serve in Vermont. I think this speaks well of Vermonters being free thinkers and the trust that they place in Douglas and Dubie.

I would wager that you comment has to do with your anti Vermont Yankee position than it does with the job that either man has done while serving Vermont.

Gee, I can remember when Vermont was INDEPENDENT. We USED to be able to consider both sides of an issue and decide for ourselves. We always had both a Republican and a Democrat in Washington representing us.

That idea died a long time ago.

Today Vermont is firmly in the grasp of the Left Wing of politics. The farther left you are, the more free stuff you can get from Washington.

And just how many more pork barrel projects can we name after Sen Leahy?
