Police say a nurse at the Vermont Veterans' Home in Bennington admitted to striking a resident but has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault charges.

Not surprised. When I was a patient at Bratt Memorial, I received a great deal of mental abuse as well as removal of medication that would relieve severe pain from spasticity. It was NOT a narcotic. This was my punishment for being in so much pain from a spastic disease that I was unable to move.

Abuse of Vulnerable people is everywhere,and most of the time they get away with it--bringing up charges is hard. Watch out, friends!

towards employees than any other job in the country.... A CDC report claims that 70% of staff members are assaulted at least once per month and nursing assistants are assaulted on average 9 times per month with 50% of those assaults causing injury and 38% of those injuries requiring medical attention.... The report also claims that 40% to 85% of these assaults are never reported to their supervisors.....

Now how would you like to get your ass smacked around every day at work??????

Years ago violent and aggressive patients were strapped down in their beds, chairs and wheelchairs... Today the ADA prohibits this practice, hence drug the shit out of them.....

As a young adult, I worked in nursing homes and cared for many geriatric patients, so I do know that world. As a 50-something, I came down with a serious neurological illness that landed me in the hospital in a completely helpless, vulnerable state. I was abused by a few really nasty nurses, and had vital medications withheld which left me in severe physical pain, to punish me for not being able to get well fast enough!I also had to deal with a creepy doctor (not my own) who encouraged the nurses to mistreat me. I was a very nice and cooperative patient, not a threat to them at all. But my "niceness" made me a target for abuse. This happened in Brattleboro.
