I hunt coyotes!!!!Plain an simple, if u dont like it, u can leave right now. There are more coyotes out their than people think, they dont show themselves to quickly. Their FUN to kill, and CHALLENGING to kill, so why not KILL them. I think most of the people in this forum are on the right foot, but a couple have no clue what their talking about!!! Am I right?
If, as you state, to qualify as fair game a species merely needs to have sufficient numbers and be fun and challenging to kill, then why not hunt the most dangerous game of all? In fact, why not lease a dozen or so acres of woodland property and invite a bunch of your friends over to hunt YOU down? That should be FUN and CHALLENGING. Am I right?

As a former resident of Vermont, I can attest that hunting is, unfortunately, so highly integrated into the mainstream culture that anyone is considered abnormal if he or she does not want to kill animals and then turn them into disgusting meals and furniture (they actually make lamps and coat racks out of the body parts--it's like something out of Silence of the Lambs).

During hunting season, local newspapers are filled with pictures of children bundled up in their hunting gear next to the mangled and twisted bodies of the animals they have so wantonly murdered. Vermont is about 1,000 years behind the rest of humanity on the evolution chart.

Any one who thinks hunting coyotes is easy and thousands are being killed, give it a try.

What an idiotic reply. Shall we kill humans because they kill pets and cause damage? Look around you and see what humans have done to this world of ours. Polluting the air, water, soil, killing off other species for the sole purpose of the root of all evil.... money! I'd trust a coyote first before trusting a human with a gun.

Okay already!! After how many hundreds of posts of this subject? No one is going to change anyone's mind--forget it.

Here's an idea. How about we discuss, at length, a subject that matters to all of us, children, parents, grandparents, teachers, aunts and uncles. Let's talk about what is going on around all of us every day, but so few are brave enough to face up to and raise their voices.

Let's talk about Brooke Bennett, victim...dead victim. Let's talk about the recent bust of a local recipient/lover of child pornography.

Let's talk about something we can all agree upon and DO SOMETHING real and meaningful about it. Let's not be care, uncowardly and be what Vermonters truly are--efficient and passionate doers!

if you think they shouldnt be hunted your as ignorent as hell thes animals breed several times a year having as many as 6 pups at one time you start adding that up and fig out how fast they move into the city and eatting your dogs and cats because they will have killed everything else and become over populated so stop and think if you want to have your little tinker bell to be a snack for some coyote

Maybe every other year? Just a thought, and maybe even You'd think different if they were after your livestock or pets or too close to your homes for whatever reason. They are a clever beast and they sit and wait for their prey with such patience.

Pretty sure they got one of mine. I can envision them slyly encouraging (stalking) this one over the fence into grave danger. Never saw mine again.:-(

IMHO, that would be unreasonable. Everything is out there for a reason and to throw it off balance by eliminating too many or all ... just wouldn't really be that much of a benefit in the long run (big picture).

I definitely do not kill coyotes because I see them as a threat to people, because that's just ridiculous. They are a threat to some livestock, but I don't have livestock, so I don't care.
I will not lie to justify my actions. I enjoy killing coyotes, and it's legal. That is why I kill coyotes. Don't get me wrong, I respect the animal, blah blah blah. I just like to shoot them. I don't skin them or anything like that, I don't see the point. Why must a man justify killing animals? I think it's fun, so sue me.
YOU'RE just plain Sadistic and SICK IN THE HEAD! FUN? Fun to kill animals? Ya freakin weirdo! Hope that's not All you like to kill for "fun!"

First - to those who are concerned about their pets (probably cats, specifically). "Fluffy" is going to be a lot safer being kept INSIDE, where s/he won't get flattened by a vehicle, used for target practice by a neighborhood kid, etc. Coyotes may be a concern, but shouldn't be your only concern.
More to the point - domestic cats slaughter LOTS of songbirds (many of which are rapidly becoming endangered). For the health of your smaller pets - Keep Them Inside. They live longer, healthier lives.
Meanwhile - educate yourself about coyotes and their role in the ecosystem. They are amazing animals that deserve your respect, not fear and hatred.
