Of course you ~do~ realize that your actual IP address is known to TOPIX, and that your remarks —should they happen to be considered dangerous to other's lives by the TOPIX admin— will be reported to the relevant local authorities, who will thence HUNT YOU DOWN.
You knew that, right?
Or did you?

Well, dunno 'bout the 'crusades,' but the battle against infamy is —at best— on an even keel: We pray and fight for victory, for we know that if we don't, we'll surely face defeat, BUT NOT on my watch!

Well said. Keep fighting the good fight.
Out here on the East Coast, we need Militia's to govern the local Goverment.:D

Transparency in Goverment is trying to trample many rights- we are doing our fair share of battling the " goons " of the world.

Good to "hear" your voice again. Voice of Reason.

Take heart HIGHLANDER: if we don't prevail at least we'll die in the fight, which is better than living in subjection. Harden yourself enough and that becomes a "win-win" situation.

Y'all be comforted in the thought that we'uns are doing our level best!
By the way, how's Japan these days? Last time I was there was back around 1979 or so, on USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), at Yokosuka for some minor yard work.
Gotta tell ya: Those yard workers were just the best! They took REAL pride in their work.
Speaking of which, my oldest boy was supposed to go to Japan on the carrier that is relieving the Kitty Hawk as the forward deployed carrier in Japan. But he got taken off the ship with Type I Diabetes. Now he's looking at a medical discharge. Poor guy. He was a firefighter on the flight deck. Really discouraging. But he's a gun-nut like me and my wife - so we are trying to get him to move here to be near us. He likes Colorado, so should be an easy sell.

That's interesting.

I'd read a bit ago that a Canadian researcher has managed to effect a permanent cure for lab mice with Type 1. Nothing further has been forthcoming, but I will guess that the work is now being directed towards the human end of the endeavor.

The relief carrier is supposed to be the George Washington, but that's delayed because of fire in an engineering space.

The CO and XO were both relieved. NOT GOOD.

Yes - my son was one of the firefighters on-scene who fought the fire on the GW. His team went down right away because they are all part of the flying squad that reacts to fires anywhere on the ship. They had to bring their silver suits down because it was so hot down there.

Man, that must have been one hell of a fire!

Now, you know? My first three years in the USN were spent in the Oil Shack and then in 4 Main Machinery Room (USS Saratoga CVA-60).

The Oil Shack tested new bunker (essentially crude oil) which was received by fleet oilers, and it also tested feed and potable water for salinity on a daily basis.

When I was assigned to 4 Main, I stood several watches, one of which was the Check Watch, which is on the upper level, almost between the boilers.

What the check watch does is monitor the water levels in the steam drums to be sure that the water didn't go above —or below— a certain level.

In the manual mode —which was seldom— you operated a wheel valve for each boiler to adjust the feed water input to the boiler.

In the auto mode, you merely kept an eye on the level and used the SP phone to advice the main watch in the 'Console Booth' which controlled things otherwise. The Console booth was where the chief of the watch, the console operator and Machinist Mate of the Watch (main engine throttle operator) stood their watches (nice and cool!).

All of that is leading up to this: In 1967, during our ORE/ORI cruise off Cuba (Gitmo), we had hung a fuel heater thermometer between the boilers — a place you had to walk between to get from one end of the space to the other.

Fuel heater thermometers read upwards of 240 degrees F.

During one of my night watches, the temperature got up 190ºF!!!

Now, keep this in mind: I was only 10 feet away from that spot, with only a forced-draft blower and a #10 can of water to keep me cool!!

Believe when I say: I KNOW what HELL is like!!!!
