you dont need a well driller.the water bill from va. american water is the cheapest utility in the city.this months bill I received from the water company was $62.89.the water bill amount for va, american water was $25.59.the rest was money they collected for the city for my sewage charges and my trash pick up.The city council should get their own house in order, and stop trying to fool the citizens of Hopewell into believing that they are looking out for our best interest, when they charge us more for trash removal, and sewer than we actually pay for our water.
A charge of less than 30 dollars a month for water seems pretty darn cheap when I pay over $100.00 for electiicity, over $100.00 for gas,and $80.00 for cable tv,and over $125.00 for phon service.

We need to focus more on getting our streets improved, making our railroad crossings possible to cross without knocking our cars out of alighnment and improving this slummy looking city we live in.

Last time I checked-- it would have cost me over 3 grand to have a well bored or driven---and that did not include the pump and required electrical hookup which would have run nearly another 1 grand. And the code states that such wells may only be used for usage such as gardens and pools etc.--- not for domestic water supply. Even if one were to hook up to their own well, trying to dodge code enforcement after the meter reader called it in that you had cut off your city water supply but still seemed to be living at the residence.So--throw in the "minimum" cost for sewer, trash , and water.I was foreced to pay the minimum on a water bill for a house that the water had been officially off on for a numbber of months ( I rental I owned)--When the clerk told me Iwould have to pay, I said OK---would pay the minimum water bill, but not the refuse and SEWER tax which is based on amount used. Was told that I would never be able to get water service in my name again, etc. Could go on---about approaching the water company manager about instituting the same program that PG was trying of attaching a dedicated meter to a faucet for outside use and that amount would be subtracted for the sewer tax--- he shrugged and said he would get back to me---that was over 20 years ago---I'm still waiting !

Code enforcement wouldnt know their own ass from a hole you dug in the ground. You apparently only need a first grade education to work for Code enforcement or for that matter be in charge of it. I have lived in another City and this is the most ignorant and CORRUPT bunch I have ever encountered. I understand the leadership of Code was taken away from one idiot and given to another. Any preschooler could ride through the City and see the numerous Code violations that have been in existence for years. What does it take?? Or should I say it is not who you know but who you blow!!

I have been sending emails to Va American Water Co. this month because my water bill doubled a month after I received my first separate (from sewage and trash)bill. They replied that my water usage may have increased or I may have a leak. Neither has happened. I have been checking my meter and the leak monitor is not moving at all. About a year ago I had been experiencing low water pressure. They kept insisting I had a leak and were sending me information on getting water insurance and letters letting me know other people in my area had it and had to have pipes replaced. I was persistent that I had no leak and they needed to check it out. Come to find out the street over the pipe leading to the meter was caving in and for months the water company was supposedly coming out here checking my meter. So why didn't they notice this? I am still waiting for a reply and all I get is, "Thank you for your contact. Your information has been sent to appropriate
department for review. This process takes up to 30 days. We thank you for
your patience while we work to resolve this matter."

I just moved to the area. Including fees, my water bill was $19.71 for only five days in the billing cycle. It stated that I used 0.03 cubic feet of water during that five day period. Who would have guess they could measure to the hundredth of a cubic foot? I can't wait for next months full billing cycle! No wonder the apartment leasing agent wouldn't tell me anything about the water bill. I'm locked in for a year now.

It's a total scam, obviously. They are stealing from you...simple old fashioned stealing is what it is
