Is the best you can do on Independence Day? A poorly written article, for which you undoubtedly paid big money, about some obscure things in the country's history?
The bit about the Constitution expiring every few years is sure to please the people who don't like what's in it. The fascinating bits of historical oddities about the Bill of Rights is spot-on for those who want to eliminate the rights mentioned in it.
It's too much to expect an article in the Courant celebrating the establishment of our country.

I think the "Believe It Or Not!" approach trivializes the occasion.

Nowadays we learn about the past second hand -- someone (who wasn't there) comments on an event, puts a popular spin on it, and this commentary is offered as "content" as Sam Z's folks might call it.

Why not commemorate July 4, 1776 by printing a portion of the primary document -- the Declaration is the best candidate -- and make the Constitution available in a print friendly format on your Web site?

Typical of the Courant to reprint an idiotic pointless piece like this. That's why their circulation is in the toilet.
