A new poll out takes the pulse of central Virginia voters and who they will likely cast a ballot for on Election Day.

All of these polls are only valid if the respondents are representative of the public at large. Usually they are not. This study reported that they polled "registered voters via landline and cellphone". Where did they get the list of voters? the DNC? the RNC? You can skew the results any way you want just by how you collect the sample. I don't put much stock in them. The only thing we know for sure from this poll is that the city of Charlottesville and Albemarle County are oddballs and aren't representative of all of Central Virginia. And I think we already knew that.

Interesting that in no place does this article describe the area surveyed, the makeup of the poll, whether or not statistical oversampling was used, and what the margin of error on the poll was.
