I agree 100% on the Viagra issue. Many side effects from these types of drugs and men are often not fully aware of these side effects. Sex therapy should be mandatory as well as a stress test. Men do need to know there are alternatives to taking a pill that has serious complications. Men are risking serious health problems taking these types of drugs.

I know for a fact doctors do NOT ask any questions - just write out a prescription. Men are often written a prescription because they are "going to Vegas" for the week-end.

Women who want birth control are often required to have a pelvic exam and a pap smear even though these tests are not necessary.

So how would a man prove he's ED? Whip it out and flap it around in front of old Nina?

Haha
Well that is one way but I don't think Nina would be impressed.
I do appreciate the humor in your response
Having said that..it is a serious issue-in the fact doctors "just prescribe" the pill rather than attempting to determine the cause. If the pill is warranted I do think men need to show they are healthy enough to take it.

Birth control pills have been proven to cause breast cancer and other cancers as well as other serious health issues.
So following your logic about men needing to show they are healthy enough for Viagra do women need to show they are stupid enough to take birth control pills?

Don't forget there is Viagra for women.
It makes women who are dried up and have no sex drive get in the mood.
The problem is if they're not in the mood they're not going to take the female version of Viagra.
So you would be whipping a dead horse there. Like old Nina.

So there are no health risks with birth control? The doctor should not ask women about their overall health. Or about any risks factors? The doctor should not do any screening tests like pap smears? Should Medicaid stop covering these tests than? Since they are unnecessary? As for doctor's just "writing scripts" for Viagra I doubt it is a wide spread problem- we have a little thing called malpractice in this country.

Birth control for women is not the topic of discussion here-therefore I did not address it.

Nor did you address the fact that most doctors are not going to just write prescriptions for something that can have serious health risks. So the purpose of this bill is to turn the tables on the men- but hey let's not solve hunger in America, homelessness in America or crime in America. Let's spend a lot of time and taxpayer money making your hurt feelings all better. Or you and a lot of people could grow up!

I don't know where you got the idea my feelings are hurt-they are not. I am angry that I am not allowed to make decisions regarding my own health care-it is between me and my doctor noone else!

I am grown up already-I have a mind and I know how to use it and I do not need a bunch of politicians telling me what I "must" do regarding my own body. It is an attempt to "limit" and "intimidate" for religious reasons- to force me through legislation to believe as they do.

I am not trying to"turn the tables" this is also a health issue - men rarely if ever ask questions-and I am betting they never read the fine print on anything-including these types of meds. You are wrong when you say doctors won't just write prescriptions-they do it all the time.

It is not a waste of time nor taxpayer dollars to want/expect/demand fundamental rights.

Yes there are risks with birth control pills and the difference here is women are more pro-active when it comes to their health care-they ask questions - men are far less pro-active.

I hope I have addressed all your concerns.

A little? It is difficult to find a doctor who does not seem to be incompetent, if not a quack. It is equally diffcult to find a doctor who is not happy to grab all the money he or she can from patients, medicaid, medicare, and grants.

Malpractice? Hmmm, I recall 1978 when malpractice became a huge national issue, which resulted in the insurance industry jacking-up the costs of healthcare. Then there are Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama he have behaved like employees of the insurance industry, jacking up our fees higher and higher.

Where is the good part?

All over the world, people are interested to manage the boundaries they live in, as this world is facing population growth and migration. Yet evil, wicked, of not thrilling humans, hide and leap among vast crowd, running to creep and enter into others’ borders, which can break people‘s grounds, making vast spying , connection to serious crimes (including global association for worldwide narcotics transportation and piracy), causing society fabric outbreak, making culture conflicts and disturbance, displacing opportunities for locals and giving rise to resource constraints ( strange outsiders come to burden school and medical systems, loading to take away local people’s needs , for local people are suffering as a result of Obama‘s dysfunctional policy.)

The economy may and may not be an issue , due to, and in relationship to the vast debts so accumulated by Obama, as no such any facts from deriving proper factors pertaining to areas of jobs and household income and burden, and so on, which can be of pertinent matters to arise a clear indication notably in regard to economics. Such huge debts uprisen by the fraudulent work of Obama would be the economic issue.

This is concerning national security topic. Obama takes for granted with his backwardness, together with his troublesome, despicable, poor and unable outlook to exercise how he sees , in his views of every stand that damages the national security of US and the safety aspects of free world communities throughout the globe.

Many of Obama’s failures and deficiencies are in the areas of not updating US strength of freedom conductivity role (spreading freedom around and everywhere- but Obama would rather take freedom away, including free speech, consumer choice and freedom, and women's free choice and consent) by clumsy stand , for his wrong and disorderly direction, having relation with China as the over-emphasis, by neglecting the rest of the world.

As free world needs to get together, to go forward for the cause, in respect to the people movement (migration and travel) on the planet, in order to deal with the issues of the destiny , national security, freedom value and safety of freedom world, There is the contention of others (like the emerging China) to iron out the meanings of this planet-who wants to challenge (like China) and who is really running this world?

Is freedom running the world, or Marxism Communism-such as China? China wants to challenge freedom world that US always falls into China’s trap orchestrated by Obama's ill-minded behavior and misendeavor, to make US facing a national security infiltration by Chinese Communists from letting them come close for association, which can result in resource constraint, job losses, items like technology and military secrecy turning into trouble and so on , falling into challenger China as an enemy. For example, it is better not to let Communist visit or get into the Pentagon, than let in , even some may think these are of little things. Do not underestimate what little things are, as they can big things.

Obama is making USA lopside down in everything and every way. Obama’s doing does pose breakdown of US security and much more than that and beyond. Obama is making more trouble and must be crimped down and be thrown away as quickly as possible before everything gets worse further. Obama is a man full of falsehood, deception, dishonor, not trusted, casting doubts of his suitability of where he was from, making trial for the presidency on probation of total serious and rampant failures over a large degree, doing all the wrong things all the time, whereas Obama should not be put there in the PUBLIC OFFICE, by being elected in the first place.

There are critical needs to package due care RESPONSIBILITY beyond national security matters, and the purpose of the freedom people value by changing hands in the hands Of New Man for NEW president-Romney.

I could not pull up the article to read, but I think I get the jist. Does everyone know that insurance companies cover the cost of Viagra? If you use the logic that "I don't want to pay for someone having sex" (birth control)why sould we pay for men to have sex? I saw a study that says men are not using Viagra nearly as much as before because it doesn't help. The reason it doesn't help, the study found, is that in reality, the couples actually don't like each other that much to start with.

What you're saying is that pelivic exams and pap smears, both invasive procedures, are being done for ulterior reasons other than providing appropiate preventative health care. Now I can only think of two. Big bucks in a doctor's pocket, or sexual assualt. Two good reasons not to pay for these procedures if they are not needed.

I know what you mean. Mine gets erect on both ends, then sags in the middle. Nothing is going to help, so I just sit on the curb and dream of things that were. I reserve the nightmares for Nina.

I am saying the pelvic exam & the pap smear are totally unnecessary when it comes to obtaining birth control pills. They are both very useful & appropriate in health care.

It's not "stupid" it's "responsible."

current pill users and those who had used birth control pills within the past 1-4 years had a slightly increased risk of breast cancer. Although these observations support the possibility of a marginally elevated risk, the group noted that pill users had more breast examinations and breast imaging studies than nonusers. Thus, although the consensus states that birth control pills can lead to breast cancer, the risk is small, and the resulting tumors spread less aggressively than usual. Most doctors currently believe that birth control pill use might interact with another primary cause to stimulate breast cancer.
The risk is not related to the contraceptive agent itself but to how it leaves a woman unprotected from STDs. Early sexual intercourse, numerous lifetime sexual partners, and exposure to human papillomavirus are all important risk factors. Most authorities now believe that, if birth control pills increase the risk of cervical cancer at all, the risk is small.

I was being sarcastic in response to a stupid poster who thinks that there are large numbers of doctors who are going to allow themselves to be sued for writing scripts without doing the due diligence required by their profession. I am well aware of the malpracrice industry in this country and how much it costs us all.
