Nobody is stopping you from swimming in the river. Swim all you want. If you get sick, you was warned. I'm sure they are taking water samples and testing them for the fun of it.

"There is a dog park, a city dog park within the Moore's Creek Watershed and another dog park near the Rivanna River, so pet waste is a huge source of bacteria."

Hello? Parks and Recreation? Are you there?

The heavy rains purge the forrest, fields and roadways. It all washes into the rivers and drains away.

The Forest are home to wildlife. There are more deer in Albemarle County than there are people. Plus all the other critters both dead and alive. Then add in the rotting leaves and other organics.

The fields contribute their fertilizers. The roadways shed a little petroleum byproduct but a considerable amount of brake dust.

Take a look at SFRR reservoir after a big rain storm. It is gross because so much of Albemarle County ends up there. Normally it goes over the dam and naturally breaks down as it proceeds downstream. But now the local environmentalist have bought into a water plan to pump this high flow foul mix to Ragged Mountain Reservoir. The clean water from Sugar Hollow will not be available as The Sugar Hollow Pipeline will be abandoned. Say goodby to good clean affordable water.

LIZ PALMER was the chief minion who cooked up a false need for a really bad program!

The bums have been wallowing in the Rivanna from time immemorial and it sure hasn't slowed them down.

You should probably stop posting comments until you get your grammar straight. Your whole point is negated by your poor grammar. Remember: You WAS warned.

You're worried about Spot & Puffy tinkling in the river?

What about Bessie and a couple hundred of her bovine pals upstream from you?

Or Granny's aging and leaky septic field?(Sorry, Granny)

Yes, Bambi, you get some blame, too.

Have a look at StreamWatch dot org , they've got test results for the Rivanna watershed going back several years, and we all have some work ahead of us.

I heard that since many of the sewer pipes were replaced, there has not been an overflow of sewage into the Rivanna, which did used to happen. But of course, the government is to blame for dog and people poo since they are ones who made the law that said you had to poo.... Why is everyone so convinced government is here to hurt you when its just the referee between THE PEOPLE, who actually cause all the traffic, poo, and also complain and hold up every improvement that the government attempts to make to make THE PEOPLE'S lives better? Remember, the people make laws through the people they elect and the "government" implements them as best possible with the limited resources they have. Who asked for clean water in the first place, the government, or the people? Who would die without clean water, the government, or the people?

"I will post as much as I want to" is yet another example of poor grammar. As you can see, the author was not paying attention in class when the teacher was instructing on the correct use of the preposition "to". We can all see the redundancy and improper use at the end of the sentence. Because we are the grammar police, we won't sue you but will, instead, fine you for being an idiot twice over.(Frankly, we're surprised you could spell honda civic.)

I hope you're trying -- and failing -- at sarcasm, but 'to' is not a preposition in the above.

You seem to have irony nailed, though.
