Feel free to read and use my publication entitled How To Make a Dangerous Dog a Safe Dog. I understand Virginia is dealing with Pit Bull issues. Go to www.PacificArk.org . Then go to the upper right corner How To Make a Dangerous Dog a Safe Dog.

My publication will help educated people on how to prevent accidents like what happened to the 82 year old woman who was killed by dogs. The dogs had 3 risk factors for danger: 1) breed, 2) size, and 3) pack mentality, and 4) environmental circumstances (possibly tired, hungry, stressed, confused).

Thanks,
Heather Shirley

No one needs a pit bull. Pit bulls are like hand grenades. People who own this type of animal are insecure, afraid, and ignorant. Having a dog of this breed is ostentacious in a trailer park manner. Get a life, losers. Do you have one ? Do you have a job ?

I totally agree.. also, the owners should be responsible for any mishappenings.. I'd hate to live by a neighbor who had one of these animals.. Especially if i had children..

Punish the owner not the breed

Do some research. Pit bulls actually rate higher in temperament than golden retrievers as a breed. Problem is...they are such incredibly powerful dogs that when they do go "bad" the consequences are often disastrous.

I'm an owner of two, both rescue dogs and both are incredibly people friendly.

AMEN!!!! I've lived with numerous types/breeds of animals my whole life, and rescued many. The one thing I've learned is that too many people buy dogs because the breed is 'cool' while having zero knowledge about it. Pits, rottweilers, dobermans, german shepherds, and wolf mixes are breeds that require the owner/handler to understand how dogs think and react. They are not dogs for the average owner who has no concept of canine social structure or proper prasie/discipline methods. But when this happens, it leads to nothing but disaster. People need to fully educate themselves about an animal before taking it home.

I've been attacked in my own neighborhood, twice, while walking my dog. Wait until it happens to you and perhaps you'll have a different perspective about pitbulls. Puppy Mill filth!

It doesn't matter which breed the dog is. Any dog owner who lets his animal bother other people deserves to be sued and or prosecuted. Leash laws exist to keep your pooch from being your neighbor's nightmare.

In our neighborhood, one guy has a dog (that happens to be a pit bull), and he simply refuses to keep it under control. It has come out and bothered me and my dog three times already, the last time, he was there, yelling and kicking the dog in the butt to get it to go back in his house. He still lets the dog wander around freely. The man is an absolute moron.

At some point, something ugly is going to happen in the street in front of this guy's house.

I work in a vet office/kennel and have been attacked by pitbulls on multiple occasions but most of them are extremely wonderful animals, i have one crawl into my lap begging to be pet...it totally depends on the owner and how it was raised people

people will have to do what the policeman do when they come in contact with bad dogs. most of us know what the policeman do, protect your self and your family members. if dogs has all the power then let them work and the people just lay around.HUH !

What is your issue..do you even have or had a pit bull. I own 2 adult pit bulls, and 5 puppies. There is nothing dangerous about my dogs. I have 3 children that climb all over both of them and all they do is lick them. Maybe if you stopped following the herd and maybe looked up some info about pit bulls you would learn that in the American Temperment Test Society these dogs rated a 83.4%, that is only .2% lower than a golden retriever and higher than the cocker spaniel who rated 81.5%, and a collie who rated 79.0%. So before you down a dog that you have probley never even given a chance maybe you should do a little research. Try pages like www.pitbulllovers.com or www.pitbullsontheweb.com

First off Dhani I think that you might want to keep your mouth shut when it comes to talking about things you have NO CLUE ABOUT! I have a pitbull and she is one of the smartest loyalest dogs that I have ever had. And guess what your never going to believe it I also have a 5 year little girl that is best friends with her. Also my other dog a chocolate lab. People need to be a little more open minded and not just base their opinions on what they hear about a breed. It could happen to any breed it's not the dogs fault that the dog gets stuck with the wrong people. Bottom line

Sorry J White that the people who own those dogs do not take care of them correctly. Any dog can attack you, So why don't you think before you start talking about puppy mill filth. I have heard of german shepards and rottweilers attacking, I own both and their perfect! Really it's just not the dogs fault, it's the owners

What kind of health and temperment testing have you done on your dogs before breeding? You are only adding to the problem by making all these puppies while there are thousands in shelters waiting to be adopted...For those of you that are discriminating against the pit bull...check this site out Pitbullforum.com ...I guaranty after scrolling through this site you will change your mind...PUNISH THE DEED....NOT THE BREED...I live in Northern virginia...I do not own my home but have permission from my landlord to own my dog. If I ever wanted to move I would have to buy a house because EVERY apartment complex out here has bans on pit bulls b/c of irresponsible stupid people that take advantage of this breed.

Well I hope if you own ANY type of dog that you have a job..A dog is just like a kid...It relys on you for everything, forever. Dhani...Do you believe everything you see on TV?

You are the ignorant one. I also owned a pit bull for 12 years. He was a rescue and we knew his temperment and limits and never had any issues with him. I have done dof rescue for many years and the nastiest dog I ever ran into (that actually bit me) was a chihuahua.

A pets atmosphere creates a pets attitude....Here is another bit of education for you...where a person lives has nothing to do with a dogs attiude. A lot of good people live in mobile homes....A lot of responsible pit bull owners have jobs and wonderful pets. Only the bad pet owners that torment any animal to be aggressive (with the exception of guard dogs) or place large heavy chains around their necks are losers.

I wish that the dogs could be banned in the US. They are just too powerful, and why take the chance of someone getting seriously hurt. I find it hard to believe that owners of these dogs just love them for their tenderness and people friendliness. I wouldn't want the responsibility that goes a long with this breed.
