At this point, I'm starting to think that maybe Mr. Dumbler should stay on the BOS as reminder of how dysfunctional this society has become.

I can't believe he has not had any disciplinary action from JAG reserves. Our military deserve a higher level of ethics in their legal staff.

Wow, I can't believe Y'all would let someone supervise anything who has been convicted of a crime. Dumb! Dumb! And the papers brilliantly declared Charlottesville as an "educated" town! Y'all should be embarrassed of yourselves to let a criminal be on a board of supervisors.
1) He's on the Board of Supervisors in Albemarle County, not Charlottesville.

2) The law is the Code of Virginia - the state law - and localities can't just change that. There is law that has to be followed to have Dumler removed if he decides not to resign of his own volition.

3) "Y'all" who live elsewhere (or here) and write comments like the above should get an education before you write so you don't sound so Dumb! Dumb!

Dumbler should get an Award for C-ville #1 troll 2013.
I will give it to the guy .
He can TROLL the best of them .
He trolled himself into protective custody and weekend shifts.
He's good , he used you folks to get his way .
Just like he did his victims....Until he manipulated the WRONG WOMAN .
If she really were the "WRONG WOMAN" she would have gone through with the trial, and he would have been convicted or acquitted and we wouldn't be going through this now! Instead, she couldn't deal with the questions she would have been asked during the prosecution, was mad that he was given a deal, and now wants a trial in the court of public opinion. Torches and pitchforks will win everytime - even from a straitjacket!

Dumler is nothing more than a person unable to support himself with a self sustaining job. The $15,000 a year he makes as a Supervisor pays his rent and any other small things. The first part of his name sums up his overall persona... Dum!!! He is a disgrace to our county and he is without any pride to continue with his position. It is hard to believe that anybody would allow such public outcry to not have any effect on his personal agenda. I urge Dumler to resign before he ends up being ejected from his seat by some legal means. There are no excuses worth listening to by those who find that he is "okay". THROW HIM OUT ALBEMARLE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS... ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

You say all of this despicable stuff, and you don't even have the character to sign your name. I think you, and the others, who rant on this thread are the dsgrace to our county and are without pride.

To "out of control": You say all these things about everybody and how we are not "brave" enough to sign our names. Well guess what Mr. Chicken Fazoo, you didn't sign your name either. I dare say you are one of the ones who hides in the corner when the wind blows...

Crime victims don't get to choose whether the commonwealth offers a plea deal or goes to trial.

Well they can make a new movie now- Dumb - Dumber and Dumler. So basically he goes on Friday nite- checks in - eats- sleeps- and watches tv or has chats with the other criminals- where is the punishment part??? I dont get it- it use to be if you did jail time in Virginia- you were a felon and could no longer vote. So I am guessing you can be a felon and still run for Public office- you just cant vote!! Our justice system in VA is BROKE. With Dumler- shower time will probably what he likes the most in jail!!
Funny! But don't forget the taxpayer is PAYING not only his salary while he is sitting in jail, but also for the food and cable TV!

I'm still surprised that forcing a sexual act on a non-consenting person can be assessed so low as to be a misdeamenor.
This isn't like littering or bouncing check.
And that, Amanda, is why people should be centering their fury on the General Assembly. This is not the first time something like this has happened with a sitting supervisor. A few years ago down in the Petersburg area something similar happened and there was much disscussion of changing the law. Since the law makers know the law will be applied to them, nothing happend. It is time to demand answers from our state government. Yelling at and wringing your hands over Dumler does nothing. That train has already pulled out of the station. Dumler can truthfully say he is paying his debt to society as prescribed by the people in Richmond. The change needs to come from Richmond. The Dumler case is a lost cause. All the yelling and protesting is doing is pointing out to other would-be offenders how lightly the punishment is. Whan needs to happen is that the punishment must be changed and that has to come from Richmond.

Sadly, he is not a convicted felon. Thanks to our leadership in Richmond, he has only committed a misdemeanor. His civil rights are not forfited as a result.

Dumler is not being held in the gym as the article states. He is in a personal holding tank used for suicide prevention. It has glass walls, is visible to all who pass by, the lights are on 24/7 and it has a toilet with a privacy wall only about 3' high. He gets a pad for the concrete slab and a blanket. No books, no computer, no cell phone, no personal effects, nothing. The room is extremely small. No special treatment, and no, don't ask me how I know, but I know for certain.

Just to add to the embarrassment that is Christopher Dumler, his mugshot is now on the cover of Crime Times, a weekly tabloid found at all the corner stores from here to Winchester to Harrisonburg. That's all we need, our Supervisor's photo on all the newsstands this week in a gross publication like that. Congratulations Chris!
